As others have noted, this hotel is excellently situated. It’s a very easy walk to Cricular Quay (subway stop, ferries to zoo, Manly, Darling Harbour etc., Harbour cruises), the Botanical Gardens, Opera House, and The Rocks. We arrived at the hotel at 8am after over 30 hours of traveling, the hotel staff were very courteous and, to our surprise and... more

I stayed in Rm 2619 (King City View) on 21 Mar 09 at a Special Rate of $199. Vehicle entrance to this hotel is not well marked and you may, like I did, have to circle around a few times before you pick it. Valet Park is $30AUD. Check-In Experience was average, staff member was cold. Porter took ages delivering... more

My Husband and I have been staying at the Sydney Intercontinental at least 1 night a week for business for the past 3 years. The location is sensational. If you are planning a trip here opt for the "club floor" it is certainly worth the cost difference, the view from your room is breath taking. There has been a change... more

We stayed on a winters Saturday night on a package that included breakfast, a city view room and parking for $249. Staff were friendly and efficient. We arrived at 11am expecting to leave our bag and come back later. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the room was ready. The room was smaller than expected. A small packet... more

Maybe it's the global fanancial crisis but I got a distinct feeling this hotel is cutting staffing to maintain profits...and it shows. Everything you asked for was either delayed or ignored. Check-in was lengthy, as was checkout. Staff seemed to be in an attitude of "how quickly can i get this done". Not a real even 3 star experience. Sure... more

Stayed for one night for a special occasion and everything just seemed to go pear shaped. Wrong room type allocated, a fight to get the room booked. Room was not ready at checkin time and had to argue to get a room 45 minutes after checkin time. Filthy pool complete with scum on the sides. Several requests ignored. It sempt... more

My wife and I spent the last night of a very brief trip to Australasia at the Intercontinental Sydney. En route we had stayed at the Intercontinental Singapore and had a wonderful stay, sadly the hotel in Sydney left us both feeling underwhelmed. On arrival at check-in the receptionist was engrossed in what must have been some important paperwork as... more

I was here on business and booked a Club Level Room. The room was spacious enough with a good desk for working, but it is again time to refresh the rooms -- not tatty, but need refreshing. Very good housekeeping. Nice large windows provide nice harbor views and light. All the typical business class amenities: ironing board, in-room-safe, toiletries. I... more

We recently stayed a night at the intercontinental hoping to experience what 5 star is all about. But be prepare for less than what the hype is all about for a start the service at check in was less than adequate the staff have no idea what they are doing. As for requests for room service forget it I had... more

we arrived for a one night stay in a king city view room. That is exactly what we got but the room amenities were dated and while the bathroom and room itself was clean, the staff were simply uncoordinated or ineffective. we asked for 2 envelopes and it took over an hour for anyone to bring it to us and... more
