Sydney was to be our first stop from Melbourne for 5 days on our way up to Coffs Harbour. We booked well in advance and got a great deal called a summer package. If I had know what I was in for I would have rather paid the full rate and gone elsewhere. We are a family of 5 and... more

Stayed in a 2 bed apartment, which was a good size. The location was perfect for a shopping weekend. Easy walk to Darling Harbour restaurants. Close to the monorail to access other areas of Sydney. The weather was warm in Sydney and the air con was up to the job. The view from our room was not great but then... more

Having read the reviews in the pages here, I half expected to find a slightly tired hotel. I was right. The location and front line staff are great!!! But the program of refurbishment had clearly not reached our room. Though we did see evidence of one room being repainted - and to a decent standard. There seemed little point in... more

I guess with the fantastic location a stone's throw away from good shopping, eateries and family activities, that alone would sell the place. The hotel itself is nothing much, as others have said. The serviced part of the serviced apartment is the barest of bares -- just changing towel and making beds, throwing out the bin. The kitchen was also... more

We had stayed in this hotel twice before. The first time was great. The second time not so good, but they had been reallt busy - completely booked out before we arrived, and we put problems down to that. This time, however there were no excuses. There will not be a fourth stay at this hotel. They admitted to me... more

I just thought I'd add my thoughts because it looks like the Mercure is getting a bit of a beating here :) We stayed for 2 weeks in August as part of a large contingent from Canada in Sydney for a competition. To be honest, if I booked on my own I would have selected a less expensive option, but... more

We booked a double apartment for stay the weekend in Sydney as we are from Melbourne, we had a look at the web site that Grand Mercure has and we booked the double apartment (that cost 360 $ per night) thinking how beautiful it was...... Once we came there the apartment was not even close to the one shown on... more

the location of this hotel is excellent, right in the heart of darling harbour...surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants. The apartment was disgusting and filthy, smelly mouldy, dirty, missing dishes. When it was last renovated is anyone guess. They rely on the location only to pull people in with false photos on the net and flashy videos... avoid it like... more

We had a 2 bedroom apartment and it was in terrible condition. Especially when you consider how expensive it was (over $ 300 AUD per night) it was not good value. Paint off the walls, rock hard beds, aged televisions and a fridge that didn't even shut properly. The location is reasonably noisy if you have a Pyrmont Street area... more
