I have stayed at Sir Stamford, Circular Quay for about 4 years now on every visit to Sydney from my hometown of Melbourne. Even though I will note some shortcomings here, I still rate it as excellent. Firstly, the staff are fantastic, very friendly. Secondly, the rooms are lovely. It is a classy hotel, with a lovely sitting area off... more

Few hotels would permit less than 3 night bookings over new years so we grabbed a two night reservation at this very well located hotel, just behind the opera house. The hotel is clean and the beds have luxury sheets and duvets but the carpets are worn, and the feeling is also worn. Yes, its clean and well located but... more

We stayed here in Feb for 5 days on a 3 city visit of Oz. Dubious at first as the hotels web site made it look stuffy, however the staff were very friendly and helpful, even without a tip. Hotel. This hotel has one of the best locations i imagine you could get in Syndey, it really is only 2... more

I booked the Sir Stanford via Wotif for our final night in Sydney (the previous 3 nights we stayed at the Sheraton at the Park, but the 4th night there was going to be too expensive due to demand). We paid A$280 for a Quay Lounge room (3rd floor, canapes, breakfast included). The Sir Stanford continually promotes itself as saying... more

This hotel is located close to the Opera house. I stayed here for two nights and it was very nice. My room was very comfortable and it provided me with a great view of the city. I booked directly through the hotel website and booked the weekend deal for $315 per night which included one free movie, popcorn, free breakfast... more

Saturday morning 6.30 checkin, friendly, proffesional staff, elegant old world ambience, gorgeous room overlooking the botanic gardens and Sydney harbour......bed, sleep. Our trip centered around attending a symphony performance at the Sydney Opera House. For this purpose there is no better place to stay, the views mentioned earlier neglected to note the towering sails of the opera house rising majestically above... more

We stayed 4 nights in April of 2007. The room was extremely nice, more luxurious than what we usually get. Front desk staff very efficient and friendly - of course we arrived from U.S. early in the morning before rooms were available, and they locked up our luggage for us and it was in our rooms when we came back.... more

Just spent a Friday night at this lovely hotel. This was the first time we have stayed in 5 star and we weren't disappointed. The room was large with great bathroom facilities. The bed was very comfortable. The only bad comment would have to be the temperature. It was the middle of winter but we found the room was very... more

I hope things have changed since I stayed! The room was out of this world. Amazing but the staff were so rude and unhelpful. terrible. I do hope they have sorted that out. The hotel itself is a gem. more

My wife and I stayed at the Sir Stamford the night we were married before heading off overseas the next day. I highly rate this hotel - the room was pristine and was huge with a balcony overlooking the park. The staff were friendly and accommodating - our request for a late check out was no problem and little things... more
