We recently stayed at this hotel for my mums birthday. We were so pleased with the location. It was 2 minutes walk from Circular Quay train station. It was also so close to all the attractions we wanted to go to. The room was a twin room which was a really good size and the bathroom was massive! We had... More

Dear Valued Guest Many thanks for your high rating. Our harbourside location is perfect for walking, parks, ferries and access for many tourist activities, and is 5 city blocks to the very heart of the retail centre of the city. This is a ten minute walk and there is also a free inner city bus service. Sydney covers such a... More

This hotel is a shadow of its former self. I can remember staying here 5 years ago, and it was just lovely. Now, it's run like a 3-star with low care factor. The good things: having been Sydney's best hotel, the rooms are large and the bathrooms handsome; but the fittings and fixtures are worn and the rooms themselves are... More

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for recognising our good points and commenting on the areas for improvement. Sir Stamford at Circular Quay does have a fulltime qualified seamstress on staff, one of our little luxury services that often goes unnoticed, so we aere very disappointed to have a uniform being worn that is not completly tip top. There is no... More

Entering the Stamford seems to enter a bygone Grand Hotel period, with a lovely traditional feel. If you are unlucky there is only one staff at reception and perhaps one at the concierge, a situation which seems not being monitored by management and rather strange for a 5 star hotel. Staff are usually friendly, whilst the Bar unit could do... More

Dear Valued Guests We really appreciate your high ratings of our cleaniness and quality of sleep - so important for any hotel stay. A good nights sleep can make or break a holiday away from home. Sir Stamford has 110 staff and just 105 rooms, so the staff ratio to guest is very high by todays standards and we like... More

I stayed here July for a very special Birthday with my 2 sisters. It is an older style hotel - tucked away. It is gracious & grand & historic & - and the rooms - for a city hotel are large. The bathroom all lovely marble. The beds were comfortable. If you are looking for slick & modern - this... More

We discovered this hotel gem by accident, but now it will always be our preferred Sydney digs. The Sir Stamford offers old world elegance and a perfect location for visiting Sydney sights as it's a couple of minutes from Circular Quay, the main transport hub for ferries, trains and buses. A free city bus operates from here too. The rooms... More

Dear Valued Guests Thank you for bringing to future travellers attention the delights of the 3rd floor - as it is the only floor with a huge central lounge dripping with cobalt blue chandeliers and fine art. You can almost imagine you are stting in the private parlour of 19th century mansion. There is no extra charge for this floor... More

We stayed at the Sir Stamford a few days before starting on our cruise to New Zealand. I can't say enough about the hotel or the staff. This lovely hotel is in the perfect location to enjoy downtown Sydney by foot. Our deluxe room was large and beautiful and had a great balcony that overlooked the botanical gardens and had a view of the opera house! The gorgeous bathroom was all Carrara marble with double sinks, separate bath tub and large marble shower, and a separate room... More
