I had the opportunity to stay at Rydges Camperdown twice in the past couple of weeks and found the property above my expectations in three keys areas: service, location and price. The staff were both enthusiastic and engaging. Nothing was to much trouble and on my second visit their greeting was one of genuine friendship. At a time when many... more

Reviews from many months ago painted a grim picture of this hotel. It was clear that the hotel I was about to stay in was not of the calibre of say, Parramatta Rydges which I frequent alot. As I had to stay close to RPA due to my partner in having surgery, I was not prepared to pay $180 a... more

This hotel is really close to RPA..only 100 metres away. The service is friendly, and my room was really big. I had breakfast and it was excellent. Yes the rooms need new carpet, but for the price its great value. more

We appreciate your feedback on the hotel. The hotel has long been a favourite for return travellers to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with many guests becoming familiar faces and friends with our staff. The carpet will be replaced within the coming months and we hope you will visit again to see the positive changes to the hotel.

Spent a Fri/Sat night at this fine establishment recently. This hotel in 5 minutes to the CBD and just down the road from the melting pot of Newtown. Sure its a little run down, but what hotel isnt ?, and while some may have been upset with the TV on the blink, I didn't want to watch it anyway... I... more

Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay at Rydges Camperdown. We were glad that our location close to the CBD and within walking distance to the iconic Newtown precinct was convenient for your requirements. The hotel is currently working with an audiovisual company to correct some small technical issues with the newly installed LCD Televisions and this should...

This Hotel is a fire and health hazard and should be closed down. I was disgusted at the state of the Hotel when I stayed there last week for business. Cockroaches meandered in and out of the air conditioning ducts that were clogged with years of dirty grey dust. Carpets were full of dust and covered completely in stains that... more

As i have mentioned in previous reviews our Hotel is currently undergoing refurbishments to our rooms. Unfortunately at the time of this stay the bathroom had not been completed and the carpet had not been replaced. At the completion of the refurbishments our Hotel will be completely non-smoking. Our Hotel like other Hotels in Sydney is treated for pest control...

I recently stayed here for a weeks stay. The room is large and comfortable. The front desk is very attentive and helpful. For me the location was great. I needed easy access to the University of Sydney and Rydges is a short walk away. A major public transportation artery (Parramatta Rd) is right outside. For a nice bohemian feel, a... more

Thank You for your review. I am pleased to hear that our Hotel was of assistance to you on your recent trip from the US to Australia. I have noted your point about phone charges at the Hotel. I have mentioned in previous conversations also that in Australia a local call is a call to a landline in the local...

I found this place horribly depressing and could not wait to leave. (I almost walked out when I saw the room--I should have, but I was too exhausted.) This shabby, run-down hotel is dramatically overpriced. I paid $150 for a room whose carpet was worn down in spots to the floorboard below. I refused to touch the old, dirty hot... more

As previously mentioned we intedn to undergo extensive refurbishments to the Hotel in the coming 6-8 months. We are aware that our carpets and bathrooms need attention which will be actioned in this process. Kind Regards Nick Freeman
