This place was an absolute hole. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE PROFFESSIONAL LOOKING WEBSITE!!! We turned up there and foolishly payed for 3 nights on arrival, big mistake! DO NOT EXPECT A REFUND FOR NIGHTS NOT STAYED! The floor in our room had a 5 degree slope, with what appeared to be an old shower in the corner masquarading... more

dont do it!!! stayed in a double room - Arrived and the room hadnt been cleaned, dirty bed sheets, wee all over the toilet seats in the room, stank and had mould growing in shower. Revolting. I actually after about five minutes in the room, although I'd already paid for it. It was filthy, and the previous occupant had apparently decided the toilets were too far away or too filthy (probably the latter) and had urinated out the window!! My room reeked. Receptionist couldn't have cared less and refused to refund me or let me... more

this place is gross!!!! handy location for the train but it hasnt had any maintainance since 1960s!! cracks in walls and toilet foor is a disgrace! smell is mouldy and musty. the windows are drafty and dont join with the wall at all! bed only has 3 legs and theres a dirty sock under the bed! just rotten! more

this hostel was rank. looking out the window we saw dead cats, used tampons and people having sex in the alleyway it was just disgusting. there was no privacy cleaners would barge in every day without nocking, we were walked in on whilst naked twice!! midway thru the stay we heard the boss yelling at our neighbours to GET OUT... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at HomeBase Backpackers earlier this month (August.) Our room was big but not clean. Naoh's Central City - there's the first problem right there - while some people might think that a 20 minute walk is close to the city, few would say that is central...that's a relatively small point, just thought people should know what to expect.
