We booked the budget room ($99), which sounded comparable to other hotels in Alice Springs. Budget can be simple, but we weren't expecting filthy. The room was up a flight of stairs (no elevator), and the room was a major disappointment. There was a 1 inch gap under the door, ensuring noise from the corridor. The carpet was filthy, and... more

Our room was occupied at "The desert rose" so the owner had booked us in here at no extra cost to us ($75) but the advertised price was $120. It is very central unfortunately this is one of the problems (depending on which room you get). We had a room facing the main street. As usual in Australia there is... more

I just returned home from Alice Springs and so often people are quick to write bad comments but not too quick to praise. I stayed at the Diplomat for 4 nights. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with all requests. Their restaurant the Red Sea is fabulous not what you would expect to find in Alice Springs.... more

Having booked by phone for two business trips and then confirmed the trips via fax, I found that they had not recorded the second stay, despite the booking number. I booked again but on my return I found that they had overbooked and I was shunted off to their sister establishment: Comfort Inn Outback motel which stank of cheap room... more

Booked room at Diplomat Hotel before leaving U. S. Had heard some negative things, but must say, property is under new management, and to us represented and excellet value. Sandra Muscat is the manager, and she is training Ms. Sue Bray to take over soon. You will never meet a better host then Ms. Bray. She was so helpful, and... more

The hotel was pre-booked as part of a tour. We were slightly concerned at first to discover our ground floor room opened directly onto a short path which was accessible both ends from the street and that all that separated the path from the pavement and road was a railing. Bed and bathroom were clean so OK if you just... more

We reserved a room in this hotel after reading what others had said about it here at Tripadvisor. Our experince was nothing like others have described. On checkin we were not offered any help with our luggage which had to be carried up two outside stairs. Opening the door to the room we were met with at stench probably from... more

After reading previous reports before staying, and because we were driving through Alice, I thought the Diplomat was a good place stay, given they are also an Accor hotel-who we tend to stay with if we can. It was right in town, ample car parking with gates at night and I could park right outside my room. Eveything was clean... more

We booked a room with a indoor spa but it was filthy. There were moulds clinging onto the jets of the spa. We just stayed overnight anyway. Even the air-con, there were cobwebs and dirt being blown out of the system. POORLY MAINTAINED HOTEL!!!! more

We got exactly what we expected in this 3-star rated hotel in Alice Springs. Our two-night stay in May was pleasant, made especially so by the young women who work at the reception desk. The outside of this corner hotel has nice outdoor cafe seating and iron railings. The rooms are in 1970s browns, but are clean and comfortable with... more
