I booked my husband and I at the Desert Gardens based on tripadvisor reviews and overall the stay was alright as we came prepared to expect what others had said about the hotel. The bad bits: It's not a 4.5 star in the least and it can be a bit dirty in the corners of the room but overall our... more

Truly, this is a 3.5 star review, but went in favor of 3 stars due to the high cost per night (close to 350 USD) and the check out time of 10 am! (check in is at 3pm) As you can see for yourself, the Tripadvisor reviews for this hotel are outright dismal. I was literally not looking forward to... more

Stayed 2 nights at Desert Gardens. Hotel room was great, although it's quite a distance away (about 20Km??) we had a view of the Rock from our room. Ate at the hotel restaurant, White Gums, one night and the next at Geckos in the town centre. Both were good but the food & service was better at White Gums. Geckos... more

My wife and I spent three nights at the Desert Gardens Hotel in March, 2009. Overall, our visit to Uluru and vicinity was an excellent experience and very worthwhile but the very nature of the remote location results in limited choices in terms of hotels, dining, etc. Nearly everyone who visits here stays at the Ayers Rock Resort, a sprawling... more

Large complex incorporating several of the Voyages hotels. Nice rooms which were set in pleasant gardens. We enjoyed the swimming pool and there were plenty of sun loungers around the pool and on the grass. We did think that the food was overpriced. more

There was a delay in checking in for us of 40 minutes and they made no attempt to add additional booking staff when I complained. They cannot (or would not) make a cheese sandwich when we arrived and we did not wish to venture out into the heat. The pool was full of bugs at 09.30 in the morning and... more

The hotel is one of several owned by the Voyages Resort, and is in an excellent location for Ayres Rock. Facilities on the whole complex include a free guest laundry, a pool, an information centre, and shopping area (containing restaurants, souvenir shops, a photo lab and a well-stocked supermarket). There's a free shuttle bus to/from the airport, and one that... more

The rooms are in fact quite good- Best Western type standard- and there is a lively outdoor bar with food. But the price is huge for what you get. Its cheaper to stay in Alice Springs and travel the 500 kms each way on a long day tour, you get there late morning and leave after champagne and sunset. The... more

I am currently staying in the desert gardens hotel as part of a 5 week honeymoon around the world.Firstly the rooms are clean and adequate the aircon is a must and the staff are friendly and courteous. They are the positives, the whole complex looks like a concrete council estate in Thamesmead the architecture is just awful and for the money... more

Ayers Rock, Ularu, is a very fascinating place. I'm glad a went through all of the effort and expense required to see this special place. That said, the Ayers Rock Resort folks have got you by the "you know what's" when it comes to staying there. Although there are levels of accomodations, the prices are all very steep for what... more
