I have stayed at the Inchcolm before, so its enough said that I chose to stay there again recently when in Brisbane on business. Its well located very near the Central Station with its Airtrain connection to Brisbane Airport. The rooms are old fashioned in style and layout, with a charm and character you would never find in a large... More

This small hotel has a style of its own. What used to be a doctors house has been nicely converted into a boutique style hotel with charm. If you want to stay away from the typical business/tourist hotel you will find this an attractive alternative. The building is old, still has an ancient cage elevator with sliding doors, all of... Dear Dieter S Thank you for staying with us and writing your review, we very much appreciate both! We are delighted to hear that you really enjoyed the charm of the building and our beautiful 1930s cage lift, we certainly love to work in such a charimsmatic environment. This was our 1st stay here and won't be our last. From the friendly and helpful front office staff (thanks Sally) to a great room with plenty of space and well appointed, the well located Incholm Hotel will sit at the top of our list of places to stay in Brisbane.

We stayed at the Inchcolm Hotel during our honeymoon and it was our favorite hotel. It was a wonderful old charm to it that gives it a romantic feel. The rates were excellent and we received an upgrade to a spacious suite which was a very large room. The room was very clean and had a kichenette which could be... More

Just stayed one night in this beautiful old hotel , its was not ultra modern but had great charm. The lift was the old type with a cage and the rooms were furnished in the old style but the bed was very comfortable and there was even a microwave if you needed to heat something. The bathroom did not have... More

Dear ellenor, Thank you for writing your review. We sincerely appreciate that you stayed with us and appreciated our Hotel and hospitality. Per the interesting design of our Hotel, some of the rooms do have baths with shower over and some, like yours, don't. Some have 2 shower roses per cubicle and others only one. So many options!! This is in a great location. Suite was extremely musty with awful smells and windows cannot open. The only way to get things to a livable standard was to turn on the A/C but that didn't bring in any fresh air. TV channels simply didn't work on any of the TVs -- the digital image would freeze continuously. The WIFI... More

Dear travelling dudes, Thank you for your review. We don't usually get reviews of this nature therefore I am quite concerned about it and accordingly have tried to work out when exactly you stayed and perhaps what room you were in – but with no luck. Had a short stay at this gem of a hotel in Brisbane. It is an old style hotel with loads of character from the old cage style lift to the lovely high ceilings and wood panelled rooms. The room we had was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It even had a small kitchenette which would be a great add on for anyone... More

Dear Graham H, Wow!! Thank you so much for your kind words - and I've passed your comment about Myrtle the lift on to her. She was chuffed too. I love Jo Jo's - particularly the $6.00 coffee/tea with a HUGE scone, jam and cream. A favourite when I'm shopping in the mall - which happens a little too frequently!!... More

The Inchcolm is a beautiful old building, with rooms reflecting its previous use. Very comfy beds and convenient location a few minutes walk from Central Station. Lovely hotel with big window for city view and sunrise. Cafe expensive and much cheaper just up the road. Only down side was our lap top charger was nicked from the room minutes after checking out. Returned to get it and it was gone.

Dear Rob W, I have taken a while to reply to your review as we have been seriously trying to work out who you are and when exactly you stayed. To have your lap top charger "nicked" from the room would only have been possible if a) you'd left it there and b) the door was not closed behind you.... More

We stayed here for three nights in February and my first impression was one of disappointment. Dear Shielnorthampton, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Appreciation of Hotels and their ability to meet expectations is such a varied and personal thing. Sometimes clearly, expectations are not met and I am perceiving that you expected a lounge area - something a little more typical of a true bed and breakfast type property. Do all... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Inchcolm Hotel combines the elegance and timelessness of an historically significant property with the personalised service and facilities of a boutique hotel. Both the original building, The Inchcolm, and the 1930’s cage lift (who we've called Myrtle!!) which still services the hotel, are heritage listed. In 1999 the heritage listed section of the building was transformed from medical chambers to hotel suites and an extension added to the rear of the building created additional suites, a garage and the swimming pool between levels 3 & 4. The suites within the heritage listed section of the building retain many of the original features of the property, including beautiful silky oak wall paneling and the old doors with their brass fittings. The more contemporary suites of the extension have been carefully designed to be sympathetic in style to the original building. In deference to the history of Brisbane and Queensland, the Suites are named after significant people or places of interest including Burnett, Gympie, Ashdown, Lockyer, Kidman and Miles. ... more   less
