An invitation arrived for a 50th party that I would ordinarily not be looking forward to attending, but when my husband suggested we stay in Brisbane for the weekend, I jumped at the chance. We have not had a night away (from parenting duties) for years and the last holiday we had was to Melbourne in 2008 for a week,... more

As other people have noted, the Grand Chancellor Brisbane was clearly a top notch hotel in its hey day but is now looking a little tired. Renovations are indeed underway as as others have mentioned but I didn't see or hear any of it. I enjoyed my overnight stay and found it to be a perfectly adequate hotel. Of note,... more

I snagged this hotel at a great internet price so I can't complain too much. The room I was given was fine but yes the hotel was undergoing an upgrade. The corridor was scattered with grit and bits from the other rooms that were being remodelled. Since I was there overnight the reno noise was not a problem for me.... more

Was looking forward to a special night away with my wife. Website had fancy looking room and we decided to pay more for a 4.5 star hotel as we don't go away very often and wanted something special. - After we checked in and handed over credit card, we where told that they where doing constuction on all floors and... more

I have stayed at the Grand Chancellor before and it was all pretty good, just make sure you dont get a room either side of the lifts as they are a little noisy, no good if you are a light sleeper like me. I asked for a room change and was accommodated very nicely. This visit was just exceptional. All... more

After travelling for almost 24 hours, I couldn't wait to take a shower and nap. Got to the hotel around 8am and our room was not ready, didn't think it would be, they took my cell number and said they would call when ready. after such a long last leg of flight 13 hours I welcomed the opportunity to walk.... more

I had stayed here a year ago and was very impressed. However this visit I got a room that is in desperate need of renovating. While it was clean, the bathroom was very ugly and dated. Room Service was lovely. However the breakfast was a huge disappointment. Luckily breakfast was included in my price, or else I would have been... more

Room was fine although we were fortunate to be upgraded to a superior room, which was very pleasant, the lighting was poor as it is in so many Australian hotels ( I am a local), the bed was fantastic, beautiful pillows and bedding. The room was clean, the bathroom small but what do you need? Shower and bath were more... more

We didn't expect too much and were pleasantly surprised. On arrival late on Friday evening we were quickly checked in and had a no fuss late check out organised for Sunday. The room that was booked was as requested, a twin room with double beds and one rollaway bed prepared so that the three of us had separate sleeping spaces.... more

Despite Brisbane not being one of our favourite places we visited on our tour of Oz, we found this hotel to be clean and tidy. The rooms were of a good size and the internet worked well. The roof top pool is small but adequate. The Gym is also small but no one ever used it when I was in... more
