The hotel looks wonderful from the outside, and it is in a convenient location. We had a "newly renovated" period room on the third floor which was $85 AUD for a party of three. There were twin beds in the large spacious main room along with a kitchenette, long table with plenty of seating, and a flat screen TV. There... more

We chose to stay in a second floor 'period suite' and loved the 'step back in time' experience. The room was very spacious and opened out on to a balcony overlooking the tree-lined Fitzroy River and Berserker range. There was a queen bed in a separate bedroom with huge widescreen TV, and antique mirrored wardrobe. The living room had two... more

The main building looks great on the outside and is right by the river. The Queen visited there in 1953 and it looks as though it hasn't been decorated since! There's old and then there is old! Needs a major overhaul in all areas, including the bathrooms. Glad we only stayed one night. Cannot comment on the attached motel part. more

The "Cri" A wonderful Period restored hotel with amazing food and atmosphere. It is right on the riverfront and close to downtown. The pub and restaurant being right downstairs is very nice. Some I was traveling with didn't like the older period restored rooms but one must be open to new and different things. I love it and will stay... more

A clean motel style room but not family friendly. Our family room was spacious but very dark just 1 window for 2 rooms. The room had a fridge and microwave but nothing to eat on or with and no sink to wash up. We got plates from the pub but each time we asked for them we were questioned 'you... more

We stayed one night at this hotel/motel in May 2008 during a road trip along the Bruce Hwy between Brisbane and Cairns. Of all the budget accomodation we stayed in this was the best value and we enjoyed our night here immensely. Room - was basic but clean, we had a shower cubicle in the room but had to share... more

Location, location, location. Add in some great history and you've got a great hotel. Our room was classic with beautiful woodwork and very comfortable beds. We overlooked the river and had a balcony if we wanted fresh air. The bar was hopping on our Saturday night, but you could not hear it from the room. Maybe it was because my... more

This hotel was cheaper than the hostels we had been staying in and was lovely. The location was excellent, overlooking the river and the place had got some history to it which made a pleasant change. (including a resident ghost!) The room itself (a double) had its own ensuite, tv and fridge and was huge. It also opened out on... more

I stayed only 1 night, but my business colleague has been staying there for almost 4 months. We are from the States and I was skeptical when the raved about the hotel. How could a small small-town hotel be so good? Well, my doubts where dispelled when i got there. The hotel is charming, has character and the bar is... more

We stayed overnight at this hotel. The rooms in the hotel itself we were shown were a little tired looking/dark but we were offered self contained motel units out the back which were of a very high standard. We're a family of four and had 1 double bedroom plus livingroom with 2 beds, settees, huge tv, playstations, luxury bathroom, dining... more
