We had a large, newly-removated room that was very attractive and comfortable. The only odd thing - and this wasn't the only place in Australia we found this situation - was that in this brand "new" room there wasn't a single drawer or shelf for your clothes! There was a closet for hanging stuff - but we had to spread our underwear, socks, T-shirts and so on around on the desk and chairs! By the end of our trip, we began to think that Australians don't use drawers or shelves! The Yongala Lodge is an older structure, mostly restored, so that made it a more interesting place to stay than one of those all-look-alike modern motels. The location is great. Our room was quiet and clean. There's a restaurant connected with the hotel, but don't count on it - we were told it would be open the night we arrived, but it wasn't. Some nights they were serving, and some nights they weren't. We could never figure it out. more
