The Mecure inn at Townsville is rated as a 4 Star premise. This hotel comes no where near this rating and in my opinion displays traits closer to a 2.5 to a 3 star hotel depending which room you stay in. Decent accommodation in Townsville is very hard to find; Jupiters is old and motel-like, Aquarius is pretty ancient but far supersedes Jupiters and the Mercure. I asked for the nicest room type upon booking. I was told the balcony lake view was available for $189 - not such a bad price for a room that sounded quite prestigious I thought....... more

I have just stayed at the Mercure Townsville and had a very enjoyable stay. The room we had was newly refurbished and I found the price to be reasonable. The staff were great and the food was fantastic. I would reccommend anyone to stay there. more

The photo's on the website are bogus!!! None of the rooms in this massive complex look like the photo gallery. The menagarie of double story buildings are linked by a series of stairs which are impossible to navigate with suitcases.
