We have stayed twice now in the two bedroom apartments that are run by Rydges in Townsville. The apartments are not in the hotel itself, but across the road at the back. They are very quiet, especially the ones at the front away from the neighbouring properties. No views but the location is still handy to all the Palmer Street... more

I stayed here for just 1 night. The location is good, not in the CBD but close by. There's a weird rule that you can't access your car or use the carpark between 10:30pm and 7am and I thought only Gov't Departments had crazy rules. Just make sure you're back by 10:30 pm or no undercover carpark! The room was... more

The small and rundown lobby says "renovate me" but if you are child of the 1980's you will enjoy the rooms which are modeled to the movie Tequila Sunrise, all wooden venetitions. My room was large with an adjoining lounge, not sure how typical this was. We ate in the restaurant which was a bit of a mistake. The restaurant... more

Hi, Thanks for your comments. The hotel was renovated in 2002 with a tropical feel. The views stunning and the room where you stayed is a superior room. I am dissapointed that you did not enjoy your dining experience as we do pride ourselves on our food and beverage offering and have taken considerable time in positioning the restaurant as...

I stayed in your spa suite around valantines day,and was quiet dissapointed with what we paid for. You charge a really high price for a very outdated hotel room. It was a hot night and the air conditioner failed to work. when we reported this to the duty manager, he was quiet rude about it and said that the problem... more

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I can advise that yes the air-conditioning problems that we have previously had have been resolved. With a considerable investment in capital expenditure we have now replaced the air-conditioning system completely. The hotel is now looking forward to a long tropical North Queensland summer. I have stayed in Townsville and at this hotel many times over the last 12 months. The hotel rooms are dated and the decor is straight out of the 70's but the rooms I stayed in have always been spacious and clean. I have always found the staff to be helpful and courteous. If this hotel were located in a... more

Our child was sick - and the hotel were very unhelpful. The receptionist made comical gestures of me, when I was seeking help for my daughter. She did not display a basic understanding our concerns. more

This is a nice old place but really has the essence of a 1970's establishment. The staff are extra friendly, the food is of a high standard and the place is clean and easy to work from. These days they have bus tours staying in house which means that the restaurants tend to get busy. The F & B manager... more

My recent stay at this chain hotel reminded me of how hotels were in the 1970's and how things have moved on ,but not Rydges Southbank Townsville. This property sings the past and i dont like it.Its just tiried and looks as though its had minimal capital expenditure over the years. The front desk staff were just going through the motions. No welcome... more

Rooms are nice and spacious with comfortable bed, desk, TV and especially a very cosy armchair! Reception staff is no overly friendly and would not even greet when guests enter the hotel. The location is very good with different restaurants and pubs right next door and just a short walk to the main shopping district. What I thought was the... more
