With not much choice on the island for accommodation you really can't do better that King Fisher, it's a shame they haven't done a revamp of this resort as it is desperate for one. We stayed for 2 nights on local advice. To have the real Fraser Island experience staying here is essential. As an 'eco resort ' it does not have cutting edge glamour and the rooms have a slightly dated feel, but they are clean and very comfortable. I stayed here with my husband for our anniversary for three nights. The resort was great, perfect location with plenty to get involved in and a nice room with a jacuzzi. Lobby is grand ...but the rooms are horiffic. We were on honeymoon and it was SUCH a let-down. Horrible rooms, horrible. Just day trip to Lake Mc Kenzie to see Fraser and some beaches. Forget this place. Eugh. more

We stayed 2 nights at the Kingfisher and really enjoyed it. The reviews on tripadvisor were mixed so we weren't sure what to expect. We booked a package that included the room, breakfast and a whale watching cruise. We had a double room that was pretty nice. Fraser Island is absolutely beautiful. The Kingfisher resort is simple in many regards but the location is fantastic and our 2-bedroom villa was very comfortable with a large balcony up among the tree tops. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool which was very warm in the middle of the Australian winter. The long walk to Lake MacKenzie is highly recommended... more
