My wife and I stayed in htis hotel during a 3 night trip to Hobart. The hotel for me was in hte best location for checking out all Hobart has to offer in terms of sights, culture, food and drink. Be sure to get a hoarbour view room - it's beautiful and you won't be disappointed. The hotel restaurant was... more

Myself, my wife and our teenage daughter booked to stay at this hotel in September 2009 at a room rate of $300 per night. On arrival, the foyer suggested the hotel was 5 star. However, our room (despite the glourious view) was 3 star. Apart from new carpets, decor was outdated (1970s) and the beds drooped in the middle. The... more

The hotel is directly across the street from the docks, where small boats are moored. Not all the rooms have a harbor view (I had a room with more of a mountain view) but there is a lounge on each floor with armchairs and a view of the docks. There are several restaurants right at the docks. My room was... more

I wonder if other reviewers stayed at the same hotel as we did, our room was huge, the staff fantastic and our overall stay most enjoyable. The location could not be better being right opposite Constitution dock with restaurants all around and a five minute walk to the city centre.I think some people just like to have a whinge as it... more

We stayed at the Grand Chancellor for 3 nights for a "Dulux Accredited Painters" conference. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming- A special mention to the breakfast crew. The catering for the conference was handled very well with good food and drinks and a great atmosphere. Well done! A great way to see the sights of Hobart harbour-... more

Stayed in an executive suite for 3 nights on the 19th floor of a 10 story hotel. Check the lift buttons. Location fantastic. Staff fantastic, as good or better than the Pen in Bangkok or Shangri La in Singapore. The hotel is OLD and needs money spent on it NOW. The windows are single glass and although the views are... more

I am surprised by the previous reviews. I was in town on business with my wife and my conference had me staying at the Old Woolstore Hotel across the street. We only made it two days there before we had to seek better accomodations at the Grand Chancellor. We found the Grand Chancellor to be a very pleasant and comfortable... more

Arrived on a Wednesday night for 2 nights. When I got to my room the windows were shuddering from the wind - didn't close very well. I was told I would have a harbour view room but you could only see the harbour if you went to the corner of the room and peered out the window. Ordered room service... more
