Great location right in the heart of town. Large spacious rooms and the most comfortable bed that I have slept in in many months !! The staff could not do any more to be of assistance. Cocoon Bar was a fantastic bar to meet up with friends before we headed out for dinner and the 'create your own happy hour'... more

We have been staying here since we found it. (Initially we did stay twice at The Rydges on Swanston street which was a bit away from the city center, a few years back). The location of the hotel is fantastic, and is close to all the major shops in Melbourne including David Jones, Melbourne Central and Myer. There are all... more

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Lovely big room with sitting area and mini kitchen area. The hotel was situated in the middle of a busy main shopping area which was great, close to all main attractions and the train station. Trams just outside the door and plenty of retaurants to choose from. The trouble with the area happened... more

Stayed here in July after (fortunately) getting bumped from other hotel (Victoria on LIttle Collins). We needed a place for last 2 nights in Melbourne and they saved our butts. Much more expensive than Vic.Hotel but we just walked in and got a booking during a busy weekend in Melbourne. This place was MILES beyond the Victoria--lovely room, reasonably quiet... more

The first time I went to Melbourne (eleven years ago !), I stayed here and it was the All Seasons Swanston Hotel then. It was ok but definitely nothing to write home about, particularly as the rooms seemed a bit dark and construction work was being done out the back. The set-up is quite unusual as the-then Ibis Welcome Hotel... more

The Hotel is in the heart of the city. The hotel lobby has great ambience and encourages one to stay there. The hotel staff is quite cooperative. Rooms are mid-sized and are very neat and clean. one feels at home. Service of the hotel is ok-ok. more

Stayed in Melbourne at the Swanston Hotel Grand Mercure on ANZAC eve for a night away. Found the hotel to be in the heart of the city next to Burke street mall, David Jone, Myer stores and lots of nice restaurants. The room was clean and had quite a bit of space so you didn't feel like you were in... more

though location is good rooms are very small - i had booked a standard room but was upgraded to suite for free cos i was on my honeymoon. The size of the suite was as good as that of a standard room in other hotels. The entrance lobby also was very claustrophobic. Its better to book a room at teh... more

I have just stayed 4 nights at the Swanston Hotel Grand Mercure. The location is unbeatable. From the main entrance you walk out into all the shops and department stores. Lots of cafes are also on your doorstep. Tram just out the front too. Just a ten minute walk to Vic markets, and lots of other attractions. Would not say... more

Scruffy room, noise from the lift and out-of-control airconditioning kept us awake all night. Sagging bed and pillows filled with what felt like rocks. The door to our room looked like the Australian Security Intelligence Agency had conducted a raid the night before. The tv would not have looked out of place on a suburban nature strip... We only stayed... more
