We stayed in a one bedroom apartment at the rear of the building. While it was a good walk from reception and down a flight of stairs it was quiet and spacious. The room was well laid out and clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, convienient to much Melbourne has to offer, including lots of little... more

You can't fault this hotel for location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We received a complimentary upgrade from a studio to a 1 bedroom apartment. We were grateful for the extra space but the apartment is beginning to look abit rough around the edges and in need of a bit of TLC and maintenance (Torn curtain, missing... more

We stayed in a 2-bedroomed apartment and were a little disappointed overall, particularly as we had paid quite a lot for it. The apartment was quite small and overlooked another apartment building where there were obviously longer term residents who didn't care how tidily they kept their rooms! In our apartment, there were a number of maintenance and cleanliness issues... more

a great location to stay in, just at the top of Chinatown and not far from the main hub of the city. Our studio apartment was small but had everything in it, it was nice to be in a building with a bit of character rather than a boring apartment block. we liked it so much we stayed an extra... more

Great location, great price, great amenities, surrounded by fabulous restaurants, but unfortunately due to all the greatness our unit was located on little bourke st and we recommend that you ask for room/s located toward the centre of the building/off the street. We heard loud noise until after midnight and were woken by garbage trucks from 5am on. more

Booked this apartment independently through Engel Serviced Apartments not through Somerset Gordon Place. Had one bedroomed apartment with small lounge and kitchenette. The location of the apartment was amazing we could walk easily to all parts of the city. The lounge was completely taken up by the bed settee when it was out and the location was quite noisy as... more

Just returned from a wonderful stay in Melbourne. My daughter and I stayed 4 nights. The first night we were in a room overlooking Little Bourke St, and whilst the room was lovely it was very noisey at night (it was rubbish pick up ) the next day I mentioned it to the reception staff and they moved us without... more

This hotel is in a perfect position to explore the centre (CBD) of Melbourne. Set at the top of Little Bourke St, it is just a stones throw from Victoria's parliament, less than a minutes walk to two theatres and 10 minutes walk to the central shopping area. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly and helpful... more

We took a family trip to Melbourne on 26 December 2008 for 4 days. The main purpose was some shopping and going to the theatre. Our group was parents, an adult child and a teenager. Our last few stays in Melbourne were at apartments on St Kilda Road near Albert Park, but they did not appear to exist any more,... more

Paying $120 for a double, we were given a charming room near reception. Contrary to a previous reviewer who claimed the rooms are dark and dingy, it was fascinating to be accommodated in a part of Melbourne's history. The room was great, and the bathroom most satisfactory and impeccably clean. The staff with whom we spoke were most pleasant, and... more
