I liked staying at Vic Hall and it was very clean, comfortable and close to Fitzroy where I needed to be. The security system is good too. The games room was too noisy to be close to while trying to sleep as people use this during the wee morning hours and the air - con was on all the time... more

This place is awesome!!! The rooms are finished off like hotel rooms, there is a theater, games room, gym and lounge. We stayed in a private room and had a great flat screen TV in our room and the beds where so comfy!! before I stayed I was a bit worried because of some of the negative reviews but when... more

I stayed here twice, once for the Melbourne Cup. I was able to stay in a 6 share dorm room with 5 friends the first time, and a 4 share room with 3 friends the next time. What made Vic Hall stand out from other backpackers accommodation was that they provided towels, large cubbies for luggage and belongings with hangers... more

We stayed here for 2 nights while we attended a conference in Melbourne. The family ensuite room was renovated and fresh. The bed was comfy and all linen was clean and fresh. The staff was helpful and knew what they were talking about. The small critisisms I have are that the surrounding rooms and games room made it hard to sleep... more

I really like my stay here at Vic Hall, and I'd come back for sure. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Great location, relatively cheap. Only thing I felt could be better is kitchen, It's very small for so many people (only have 4 burners) you have to put 20 AU to lend plate, cup and cutlery. Internet is very expensive 10... more

once we finally found the place from the train station we checked in with got in a lift that scared me, got out the lift and stuck to the carpets. Wasnt impressed at all in the room with 2 camp beds on the floor. The bathrooms were so terrible we refused to use them and went out to the toilet... more

I booked this hotel and had to cancel the reservation. To my surprise they charged two kinds of "cancellation fees" to a sum of over half of what the booking was. I canceled the booking over a week before my arrival date. Booked through hotelclub.com. Beware of both the hotel and the service as both charged independent cancellation fees. more

First of all, this has all the basic stuff you want from a hostel: the rooms are light and modern, the bathrooms were always clean, and the beds are surprisingly comfy. The location is great; it's about a five minute walk to Melbourne Central, where you can catch a train to anywhere you want. The prices are cheap, staff are... more

I was overall quite impressed with the accommodation in light of what you pay. Location is great - under 10 minutes walk from Burke Street Mall (the main shopping district) and Melbourne Central (a cool shopping complex). The rooms are newly renovated, clean and modern (equipped with flat screen tv, and an ipod radio clock). Bathrooms are also newly renovated... more

it seems that previous reviews describing this place as filthy are no longer accurate. My impression is that the place has been renovated, and rooms are certainly clean. Separate toilets/bathrooms are just ok for cleanliness. Personally, I dislike not having toilet/bathroom in the room, but you get what you pay for, and this place is about as cheap as you'll... more
