Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Duxton. I don't have any particular exciting comments to make about it - it didn't warrant me thinking "wow I really want to go back there" but it was adequate to park my things and sleep at night.
The rooms were small and basic but clean and well maintained. The bathroom was small but adequate as well. For value for money, if you don't want to stay in the room but explore outside, the value is excellent. Otherwise I would find it a bit snug!
The building itself is lovely but as mentioned I rarely stayed within it because of the draw of Melbourne.
Location is very good - central city, though you have to walk about 3 blocks into the city before you hit any strips of shops/restaurants. It is almost directly across the road from Flinders St Station and very close to a circle tram stop (free circuit around the city) or trams to Bridge Rd/MCG/Chapel St.
