My wife and I stayed in the Duxton as part of our Melbourne/Sydney trip last year.

Obviously this won't be the most updated of reviews, but hopefully it may help shed some light on the hotel itself. Overall, the hotel was very pleasant - having been blessed with the opportunity to travel to many places in the world, I would simply say that this is a hotel that you would not need to worry about.

In terms of outlook and location the Duxton is excellent. The building itself is a fairly charming historical building located on Flinders Street near the bank of the Yarra river and a momentary stroll away from the grand Flinders Street Station and the Elizabeth Street Tram terminus - which meant it was an excellent base to travel elsewhere to see the rest of Melbourne.

While it benefitted from being located in central Melbourne - and which therefore meant we were within walking distance of or a short tram ride from most of the attractions within the city centre... more
