If you get nothing else from this review then follow this advice - the moment you check in ask for extra blankets for all beds. Melbourne winter is COLD and a thin synthetic blanket and sheet are NOT enough. We stayed here with our two kids for one night. It was not expensive but it wasn't a great bargain either.... more

I have stayed at the Mayflower on two occasions and have found it to be fine. I am unsure of what others expect for the price and the star rating. A lot of the gripes that people seem to have (such as no phone and no parking) are advertised on the website. As for the smell of Asian food. I... more

Our 2-bedroom apartment was tiny, the main bedroom was just big enough for the bed, no side tables and no curtains to block the morning light! There was a group of Chinese students living in the apartment next to ours so our room constantly smelt of their cooking (unpleasant odours). At least we had a balcony with decent views and... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was really basic, we were only there to sleep, thank god, because you could not sit in the room for a nice dinner or chat, way too small. The location was good, not too central but close to trams and walking distance to good shops and places to eat. The rooms were... more

Stayed at this hotel earlier this year. Wasn't too hard to find but didn't exactly stand out. Customer service was pretty average. Reception/check in area was very narrow with not a lot of space. Our room was nice, very basic but was fine for one night. Overall, not a bad hotel. more

Stayed for three nights, and found it perfectly adequate. Booked through lastminute.com and got a rate of 110 Australian dollars per night for a two bedroom apartment. I'd say that's a fair rate. Arrived to find that the receptionist couldn't find details of our booking. They let us use their computers in the office to show them our booking email,... more

My family & I stayed in a two bedroom apartment for 3 nights. The apartment was advertised as a superior apartment costing $140 per night instead of $250. Was it value for money ? I don't believe so.... In terms of location the apartment was handy and walking distance to everything you would want in Melbourne. Mayflower don't have their... more

The management is lucky to have a good location which is their only saving grace. One wonders why they don't turn this prime location accommodation into a good-for-value hotel. Not very much into the guests' needs. I was desperate and needed a place to stay for a few nights. I was warned by the reviews here and by friends who... more

After reading the other reviews before we stayed here I was extremely worried about our stay and even tried to find somewhere else to stay. I was unable to do so and it was with some trepidation that we arrived at the apartments. Yes they are very small and yes the beds are mattresses on some type of wooden board,... more

False Advertising, should let people know when booking that this is usually Student Accomodation. Beds may suit a 40kg Student but do not accomodate anormal sized Australian, A Bed is not a piece of chipboard with a mattress on top! No space to keep suitcase in room had to keep it in the extremely tiny lounge/kitchen/dining area. No mattess protectors... more
