Joined friends for a birthday lunch, carefully planned by the birthday boy. Great service from person at reception who answered all questions promptly and seemed very friendly. We were assured that using Entertainment Book vouchers would be no problem - but what a different story in the restaurant! No charm, no friendly service, just a flat refusal to honour the... more

This hotel is totally without charm, personality or atmosphere. If you want to get your head down in this area for a night then there are not so many options however I would seek them. The bed gave my partner a dodgy back. Our bathroom looked like something from a hospital or a lunatic asylum - large and white. Dinner... more

A long anticipated trip was full of disappointment. The room was not ready at 2.30 despite a three quarters empty hotel. So we took lunch, the wine we wanted for lunch was not available, so we took their option. The bottle had been open for days, and the wine was off. Shown to our "Estate" garden room at 3.30 was... more

Note: I am a c5 tetraplegic with c6/c7 functionality. I use a manual wheelchair. My reviews are made from this perspective and are intended to be more relevant for disabled travellers. Lovely location at the head of a small valley. Wonderfully groomed hedges and ivy-clad buildings. Our semi-detached room was fine. Very large king-sized soft bed. Our room had a... more

We stayed here in August for my husbands birthday and took advantage of the "Winter Warmup" deal that was on offer. On arrival, the receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming. I had paid an extra 50.00 and booked a room with a spa, but to our disappointment, the room we were given did not have a spa. I contacted reception... more

The room was nice and spacious. Our bathroom windows were dirty with cobwebs although the main part of the room was clean. The grounds were lovely but we were disappointed by the indoor swimming pool which looked very tired. Windows were dirty and some had cobwebs. The evening meal was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. We paid... more

We had a one night package stay that included a 3 course a la carte meal and a cooked breakfast, as a gift. Would I pay high dollars for what we actually got or, was it value for money? Probably not. The rooms aren't ready for occupation until 2pm and morning checkout is 10am, so it is a short day!... more

We've just had a night at the Hotel Du Vin to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We wanted something out of town, but not a huge distance from Auckland where we could have a decent dinner and a bit of romance. We got a decent rate on Wotif - NZ$205 for one night. We arrived at 3pm to be told... more

My husband booked Hotel & Spa Du Vin as part of a trip to celebrate my 30th birthday. The hotel is located well off the beaten track in a tranquil valley and has an immediate air of serenity as you drive in. Our check in was smooth and we were taken to our room on a golf cart - a... more

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, one of which was Valentine's night. It was magical dining under the stars in such a beautiful setting. Food and wines were excellent and the service friendly(some waiting staff can be so standoffish!!!) We had a suite, large bedroom ,comfortable big bed. Large bathroom with a spa bath, magical for my poor back!!... more
