I was lucky enough to experience the Ponsonby Backpackers since it has been taken over by new owners. The accommodation was very clean and fresh (which is difficult in the height of summer!) The new Managers were delightful and great for the sunny afternoon kiwi style BBQ, good tunes and a few casual drinks. I would recommend Ponsonby Backpackers to... more

I had been recommended the backpackers from a friend who stayed there a few weeks earlier. I found it friendly and clean. The new owner has beent here for a few months and is nice. I would go back. more

this was probably the worst place I have ever stayed! and i've stayed in some pretty shabby places. the place is grubby (particularly the kitchen!!!) and falling apart. the garden is a health and safety hazard. the beds are knackered and the rooms full of old furniture.
