well first off the people were friendly and the service was great , but the more you stay there the lack of assistance you get . been there for 2 months & the problem was about the sheets and blankets , they would complain about how many times we would give them the sheets and blankets to wash. Ants was another problem , all over the wall to the kitchen table. The bed was uncomfortable it was to single beds stuck together. FLeas were also a big problem which my daughter was unsettled because of the bites , i complained to the reception & said they will do something about it but they didnt. The other thing which was weird the landlord turn off our aircon which we did not know about. The maintance was good lovely ladies but the rooms were never cleaned , sometimes we will come back and the rooms werent done. But other then that it had all the knvifes folks plates , bowls fridge microwave and everything else which was good.

We arrived at the Grange Motel very early in the day, before our room was ready. Staff instantly made us feel welcome, made me a coffee and let us use the restroom after our long flight. They made recommendations for how to spend our day and let us leave our car there while we explored Auckland (via Uber). When we returned, we asked for and received excellent dinner recommendations and, all on their own, they wrote a full page of ideas for things to do in another city we were planning to visit a few days later! The place was clean and quiet and perfect for our first night in NZ.

Never having been to Auckland before my wife and I were uncertain about where to stay after our long haul flight and the fact that we needed to collect our hire car from the airport. We eventually decided on the Grange Motel, it was closer to the airport and would give us time to adjust to our "new" surroundings. We were not to be disappointed, the hotel is all we could have wished for. We arrived late afternoon and were shown to our apartment. Self contained, large and airy, clean and quiet. During our month long touring holiday of New Zealand my wife made notes of all the places we stayed, At first she was sceptical of my choice but had to admit that The Grange Motel came out way above the others.

We had a good stay here. The rooms are nicely appointed and clean. The manager takes great care at presentation. Early on we thought it was going to be a noisy location but we slept without issue. Very comfy. The guest laundry facilities were a big plus for us. The lack of pub-style dinner venues and cafes meant we had quite a drive to find dinner and breakfast. Other than that, it was great for our last night in NZ.

Tidy and adequate for what we needed it for the night before flying out from airport. Room was plenty big enough for our family of 5. Good off road parking. Owners lovely, very friendly. Room smelly though, too many incense/glade perfume thingies in the room, I did wonder why that might be necessary. Windows could do with safety locks so could keep open at night. And not enough towels for 5 people.

We arrived early and were immediately offered a hot drink of our choice while the service of our unit was finished. Only had to wait approximately 15minutes. What a pleasant surprise when we found two bedrooms and another single bed in lounge/dining/kitchen area. A very nice private outdoor area...that was a bonus. The hosts were exceptionally accomodating when it came to an extra carpark we required also. We have already rebooked for next year. Great price for four of us too BUT PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE STEP AS THEY ARE SLOPED AND VERY EASY TO SLIP ON AS WE FOUND OUT.

The room and amenities were excellent. The hotel staff lived in the main building that also served as the office. Overall it had a homely feel to it. It is located just minutes drive away from the shopping area. It is located on a quiet street just off of the busy main road.

We used this motel to base ourselves while in Auckland for business. The rooms were clean and tidy although a little tired looking maintenance wise. It did look as if they had renovations ongoing. Shirley at reception was a great help in recommending places to eat in the area.

For $159 a night, we expected much better. The service was polite, with the staff member we checked in with showing us to our room and providing a mini carton of fresh milk. She also advised us that we had a free upgrade, which we appreciated. But then we got to the room. The bathroom door refused to stay closed and kept sliding back open of its own accord. There was also a set of scales in the bathroom, which I guess could be useful for guests to weigh their baggage. The room itself had a microwave, kettle, cooktop and decent TV, but the final touches (paint etc) were far from amazing. After a busy day at Hells Gate and driving back to Auckland, all we really wanted was a hot shower. My partner had a shower and I went to get in afterwards. Imagine my disappointment and frustration when the hot water ran out mid-shampoo! We checked the compendium which, right at the back, casually mentioned that shower time per unit is approximately 14 minutes. The towels were soft but they were tattered and ratty, more like something you’d find in the back of Nan’s cupboard rather than in a $159/night hotel. The bed was comfy, but there were some dark stray eyelashes (I hope they were only eyelashes) on the pillow. There was also a mystery smear on the clearly secondhand bedside table (see photo). I’m still unsure what it was but as I didn’t notice it until bedtime I didn’t mention it to the hotel as we had an early start. The free WiFi was also appreciated although the quality was very hit and miss. We stayed here thinking it was in close proximity to the airport. It’s approx 15-25 minutes depending on traffic, or a ~$25 Uber ride. It’s worth mentioning that there appeared to be some form of renovations happening, so I really hope they’re bringing the property back up to scratch so other travellers don’t have to endure the same disappointment we did.
