I enjoyed my short overnight stay at Te Pania. Check in went smoothly. The room was of a high standard approching more of an international standard than some hotels, but still with a distictive "kiwi flavor".The rooms and the hotel its self is very moden, airy and light, and the views of the ocean are great !, (esp when the... more

This is a nice modern hotel on the Hawke Bay. The hotel is designed so all rooms face the ocean. The room was comfortable and well appointed. the restaurant had good service and food. more

This was our 2nd stay here, 1st time in 2005. good size rooms, well equipped, great views. Good breakfast, very helpful staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor and thought the rooms were quiet, not much noise from the road outside. more

Pros: -modern decor/design -open concept lobby restaurant patio -great location on waterfront -nice views from room (get a higher floor) -breakfast included in price. -good service friendly staff -clean, comfortable room -free parking Cons: Honestly I can't really think of any. Sure the breakfast could have been better the room more stylish etc. etc. but overall we felt we got... more

I can only reiterate what others have said in that what looks like some design decisions taken with economy in mind let down what would otherwise be a fantastic place to stay. 1. Why does a brand new hotel not have built in air-conditioning? We were there at the end of the summer and it was still needed so we... more

We stayed here for 3 nights in October 2008 as part of a New Zealand group tour. There was a problem with the not working a/c unit in the room, but after mentioning this, it was replaced during the first day. Otherwise the room was fine – quite large, with a good sized bathroom and a great view out over... more

stayed here a number of times prior to moving to the bay (personal fun). so badly designed that the recent commercial valuation came in signif lower because of details like back of house staff sharing elevator with guests (interesting concept). too dim to air-condition at outset thus freestanding units, noisy road in front, restaurant food dreadful and the final woohoo... more

We thought we would treat ourselves to an up market weekend away in Napier. The Te Pania advertises "ocean views" and superior accommodation, and charges accordingly. Ocean view - if you are on the 4th floor or above. Superior accommodation - well it's good, but certainly not superior and overpriced as a result. The air conditioning - did someone mention... more

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Scenic Circle Te Pania Napier, we were looking forward to it based on the location and price, however, we were sorely disappointed. They had booked us for the incorrect date (they seemed to regard this as our fault), when we pointed this out, the front desk staff member openly... more
