We stayed two nights but wished it could have been more. The owners are very friendly and have a wealth of information about trips and good restaurants. The views really are as good as the pictures on their website and it is only a few minutes drive into Paihia. An excellent base for exploring the Bay of Islands. more

What a delightful little hideaway Cook's is. We had only planned on staying 2 nights but once we arrived we loved it so much we ended up staying 5. The veiws were stunning, the apartments clean, comfortable and so quiet.. The owner's welcome was warm, friendly and super, super helpful. Definitely helped to make our first visit to New Zealand... more

We had a very enjoyable stay here, the hilltop location on the edge of bushland overlooking the whole of the Bay is amazing by day and magical at night. We found the service excellent and attention to detail very good. All usual communal facilities were adequate and well maintained. The only feature we thought lacking was a wardrobe, the awkward... more

Cooks Lookout was rated number 2 out of 47 motels on trip advisor when we booked to stay in April. We paid $175 N.Z. and booked and paid in advance for three nights. We thought the price a bit expensive as it was off season, but the great reviews and the high rating it had received on tripadvisor made us... more

The Bay of Islands is such a beautiful place for a holiday.I stayed at Cooks Lookout for 5 daysand enjoyed the locality, the wonderful views from my room, and the warm welcome extended to me by Norm and Shelagh. You were both so helpful in arranging the two sea trips, which I enjoyed so much.[Thank you Norm for the use of the heavy jacket.It... more

We found Cook's Lookout as an alternative for full-up accommodations in town and were very happy with the choice. The location is in a residential area about a five-minute drive from town, so Cook's may be best for those traveling by car - which is quite common for holidays in New Zealand. There is a small store and take-out food... more

We stayed in Apartment 3 and the views across the Bay were simply amazing! The accomodation was very clean and modern and very comfortable. The Children really enjoyed the trampoline and pool. The owners were very approachable and helpful. You must see Russell and the Dolphin trip ( use the smaller boats!) was one of the highlights of our holiday... more

Found this motel using "Wotif" and everything described was accurate. Situated about 3ks behind Pahia in a very quiet and secluded location with breathtaking views over the Bay of Islands. Norma and Shelagh are very welcoming and helpful people, Norma arranged a Dolphin Watch cruise, who picked us up from the motel and the cruis captain was the only one... more

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I had booked 2 apartments, one for my family of 4 and one for my mother and friend. Norm and Shelagh were very generous and upgraded my mother and friend from the smaller apartment to a larger one beneath ours to make our stay easier for us. The apartments were lovely, well equipped and very clean.... more

View terrific but in my opinion the accommodation needs updating. The shower was difficult to regulate and without my touching anything just went cold. If you want to go to restaurants you will need to drive into town. Norman and Sheila were helpful with their advice on tours etc, although the cost of $1 to ring a free phone no.... more

Guests usually come to us BECAUSE we are off the beaten track! We are exactly 4 MINUTES DRIVE from the busy town centre, which is why we have such magnificent, elevated views and a QUIET, traffic-noise free location. It depresses me that guests who are with us for 4 days and believe they have a problem would not mention it...
