Two day stay and Spa treatments: Rather disappointing...over-rated, over priced and understaffed. Apart from the wonderful water views, this property does not have the WOW factor to be graded a 5 star Resort. Recently renovated, the rooms are spacious and pleasant however, shower over bath, TV poorly positioned for watching from bed and furnishings were not luxury quality! Not even... more

We stayed for one night only and were rather disappointed. This hotel is definitely not the 5 stars it claims to be. On arrival there was no one in reception and when eventually the girl did arrive she looked a bit flustered and apologized for leaving us waiting. We then saw the same receptionist taking guests luggage up to rooms.... more

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband on a get away weekend. Room was nice, recently refurbished. Two complaints - king bed was actually two twin beds pushed together and the mattress wasn't very comfortable. Also, as previously stated, unable to view TV from bed. Small love seat and chair in sitting area with TV. We were on pool... more

The views are great over the bay and the rooms are nice, but its way over priced for what you get. On our first evening we saw people off the street come in and use the pool and jacuzzi! We did not have a shower mat throughout our stay! On the second day we returned to find house keeping had... more

Very nice hotel, excellent views from all the rooms. We booked last minute and stayed for 3 nights in a 2 double bedroom suite which I would really reccomend if you are in a group of 4. Location is 5 mins walk to the main town. We didn't eat at the hotel but it looked good and prices weren't out... more

If you want a suite with a view - look no further. In October-November 2008 my wife and I spent 3 weeks travelling thro Ausralia and new Zealand. I found this little gem on the internet and it is superb. Just 19 rooms, all recently refurbished to a very high standard, all with balconies facing the Bay of Islands (see... more

Wow... I had heard so much about this hotel and as I ventured around the corner at Paihia there she stood. It had been many years since I had ventured to the Bay of Island and with the recent radio advertising regarding the multi million dollar refurbishment. A weekend away to the Bay of Islands was in order with my... more

We stayed for 3 nights in a deluxe studio (room 104) which was a nice room with views across the pool to the sea. It was a good size room with a comfortable bed and was relatively quiet even though there was a fairly busy road between the hotel and the sea. Breakfast was included in the resort's small restaurant... more

We stayed at Paihia Beach Resort for our honeymoon. We splashed out on what was meant to be a 5 star resort. What we found was a very tired resort that is due for a facelift (and is receiving one in the NZ winter). Breakfast was included, but even though we were paying more than $NZ500 a night for the... more

Based on the Paihia Beach Resort and Spa website, advertising a 5-star experience, We booked a room in advance for two nights, thinking it would be a high-end treat (as it goes for around $500 NZD per night). Found it to be disappointingly ordinary. Cheap linens and furnishings. Nice view, but traffic noise. Stayed only one night. We've been in... more
