Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This motel is pretty average to be honest. They've tried, but it's lacking the "extra mile" factor so common in other motels, despite the price. I was booked in by a nice but very quiet young man (no welcoming chat at all). The rooms on the parking side look less than appealing, but they're ok once you're in. Absolutely freezing - would have been nice to have had the heat pump turned on prior to arrival. I had the heat pump working overtime at 30deg all night, and the room was pleasantly warm, not hot. Nice, private outdoor area out the back with a spa/bath. Could do with a new table and maybe matching chairs, a sweep up and some weeding... Good size rooms. Interesting way of laying out the furniture, some of which is well past it's prime. All the cutlery, glassware and crockery look much like they've come from the local op shop, but they're clean and chip-free. No power point in the bathroom, and the lighting in there was a bit lacking. Shower wasn't ideal - a bit on the cool side and needs a new shower head. No extra blankets or pillows. No hairdryer, but four different heating options - heat pump, wall heaters, a small fan heater and a larger stand-alone heater. A pet peeve of mine is those little sachets of long life milk - I hate them. I found the bed a bit solid, but slept ok (I was pretty tired!), and no electric blanket. Curtains were falling off the rail and someone had been a little over-enthusiastic with bleach I think, so some odd marks on the drapes. 3 sachets of sugar for a room that sleeps 4 is unusual. Interesting 1980's bedside tables, and a "different" touch was the spare loo roll on top of the seat. Oh, and the loo roll holder is put on the wall upside down. Motel is OK but not sure if I'd stay again.

Motel is decent enough for the price. Located at a convenient distance from the lake. It is kind of a small house rather than a motel. You get your own personal parking space. Overall its a decent place to stay if you don't want to put a hole in your pocket.

This place was just as advertised. Cheap and dated but clean and quirky. Had a great sleep. Perfect for solo traveller. Staff were friendly at check-in and my room was ready. Needs a total return. I deducted a star because there were cheap fixes that could be easily remedied to tidy up a little like curtain hooks etc.

This motel room is extremely dated. It has retro stools, the carpet is wearing, a tiny television that was very static. Very little cutlery or crokery. Nothing like the photos on the website. Not impressed. The furniture is very dated and water damaged. Sorry, but I am only saying it as I see it. The man at reception however, was very helpful and friendly.

This is an overpriced, shabby and appalling motel. The advertised laundry facilities did not work and had not worked for months by the look of it. The beds were clean and comfortable but the rest of the furniture was tired and shabby. Do not stay here.

The beds at this motel are really comfortable, we had good sleeps. There is a spa pool in the outside patio but the area lacks décor - one half dead cactus in a terracotta pot surrounded by deadly nightshade weeds and lots of weeds growing over the fence and patio. We found a few issues that required attention, such as no dishwashing liquid, no tea towels, no extra pillows, the bathroom light not working. Once reported, they were all dealt with very quickly. We stayed for 2 nights but didn't have clean towels replaced and no facecloths, but the beds were made. The outside security light stayed on the whole time. No SKY TV. The young man at reception was very pleasant, smiling and showing an interest in our time in Rotorua which was nice. On our next trip to Rotorua (and there will be another one cos we love Rotorua!), we'll probably choose to stay somewhere else, because if you are paying $$$'s per night the issues I have mentioned here should have been identified by staff and not by me.

While walking to my accommodation , I was approached by a gang member he was polite and helpful. He turned off going wither direction. As I approached the motel fence boundary I was then approached by a further 2 gang members, one standing an intimidating stance blocking the footpath who asked me if I knew the member down the road. As I walked in I was asked what room I was staying in by the 3rd member who was sitting on the motels fence. Online I paid for the lush dulux room as in the photos with the fancy bed runners and nice decor, nice big showers, clean comfy looking furniture..... Once I got my keys and got into the room I was extremely disappointed.... I realised I hired a room that looked like it was hired by the hour. Ripped furniture stained with marker pens, bed spreads bleach stained and sun faded with what looked like used pillowcases. stained carpet.. On requesting a refund as I refused to stay any longer than I had too, I was then charge a 2nd time. So a refund of $298 had to be put back into my card leaving me short for other exenses. Perhaps your marketing and advertising need to be reviewed to reflect the quality you provide.

We stayed 2 nights here in January. Its well located to all the main sights. We walked to the CBD and back. The staff are very friendly. The room has a full range of cooking facilities, comfortable beds and a great shower. Lots of little extras in theroom including a drying rack and an outdoor area. Def stay here again

We booked our room for my 3 nights and we had fantastic time. Owner Katrina was very kind to gift me bottle of red wine on my birthday as well as their manager Winnie was very kind to help us out whenever needed. We stayed in room no 1 and it had in room spa which was like icing on cake. We will visit again and whenever we are in Rotorua we will only stay at this Motel. We highly recommend especially for families and it's location is perfect.
