Honestly, if you want to stay in a prison cell this is the place for you. Except a cell is probably better equipped and cleaner. For the money paid we later found much better and cheaper places to stay. Never go near this place again!

white stains on curtains, red/brown marks up walls, cobwebs everywhere. No atmosphere. Careful of Lava bar next door... short changed after buying a round of drinks. When we politely asked for the rest of the change owed to us we got asked to leave. Therefore lost all the money we paid with no drinks either... scam. Beware!

Very good location. That's the only positive. We knew it was a backpackers' hostel but expected clean sheets (the sheet on the mattresses were dirty with hairs!). As we pulled into town our bus driver pointed out the nice park that turns into a druggie gang-zone during the night. Hot Rock Base is directly across the street. Big hostel, on centre of town, just across from small thermal park. Friendly and helpful staff, comfy beds, nice rooms, heated pool, big kitchen. I've really enjoyed this place and would stay there again.

This is a very average hostel, looks wise its not the best. They had one member of staff on to check in a bus load of people which is never good, our 10 bed dorm had one toilet and shower and the screen door to the "balcony" didnt close properly which was great on a cold night. Great hostel that accomodates for all your needs! Staff were really friendly, rooms and all communal areas were clean with great facilities. Laundry, internet, hair straightners, hair dryers, not to mention activities every night and awesome drink and food deals. I'd definetly come back!

It's a 5-10 mins walk to the isite tourism centre (naked n intercity pick/drop off point). We paid only nz10 booked via naked accommodation for a 8 bedded mixed dorm.
