We have stayed at the Baycrest a few times in the past but this was our first visit since 2001. The motel has been really well maintained and the rooms felt fresh and modern. They are a good size, with a big comfy bed, sofa, table & chairs and a small kitchen area. We chose a ground floor unit with... more

My husband and I stayed at the Baycrest Lodge/Motel for two nights. Our room had a balcony with views of Lake Taupo. The room was very clean, modern and we had a very comfortable stay. We also had a spa bath which was great to relax in at the end of the day. The motel was very quiet. The owners... more

We had 2 nights at Baycrest and thought was great value for money. We had upstairs room with great views of the lake and snow capped Mt Ruapehu in the distance. Room was great size with kitchenette, king bed and sofa lounge, good size bathroom with spa. Balconey was lovely to sit out and enjoy the views across the lake.... more

Big raps on this place. The obvious plus is the private thermal hot tubs which are attached to the ground floor units, with 50 degree Celsius fresh thermal water available from a tap to fill it. Otherwise, the unit was tastefully decorated and modern, had a plasma TV, great size bathroom, good size kitchenette and a king size bed. This... more

Really friendly and helpful owner, room we stayed in had a great view of lake, was warm (underfloor heating), spacious, clean, comfortable. The spa pool was restful and while there's a bit of noise from the main road, it's also handy to everything. The service was absolutely outstanding. more

We stayed here for two nights in April 2008 while doing the Tongariro Crossing Hike and skydiving. The owner was very helpful and booked us on a bus that went to the crossing trail head in the morning. The view of the lake from the balcony is OK, but the property is not actually on the lake front. The room... more

We stayed in one of the family rooms on the top floor of the baycrest for 4 nights in Feb. The room was spacious, although some odd architectural elements, like not being able to open the windows in the bedroom much more than a few inches; limited our ability to get any ventilation. Bathrooms, as has been stated, are generous,... more

We stayed at the Baycrest for one night after hiking Tongariro and before heading to Hawke's Bay. The lodge is located on a residential street heading out of town, but still has views of the lake, though it is not lakefront. We stayed in a downstairs room that had an outside spa tub. It was chilly outside, but it was... more

We stopped here for the night on our way to Hawkes Bay. We had booked the ground floor room so as to have the outdoor spa....but it was absolutley freezing in Taupo when we arrived so we asked to be tranferred upstairs to a spa bath room. Owner was more than helpful. The bathrooms are huge and the overall rooms are... more
