As with other writers we found the room a bit small and the bathroom tight. It's nicely renovated but being a bit unfit I didn't appreciate having to take my bag up the stairs as there is no porter available. Stayed here for a night in April, very nice place. Not centrally located in Taupo but we were in hire car anyway. Had twin beds which were comfortable, television was a bit small. Disappointed with this hotel, especially the bedroom and bathroom size. Built in 1885 it has been renovated but part of that process has been inserting a minute bathroom into the bedroom. This hotel is lovely to look at - but rooms are very small - bathrooms even more so! We had three staying in the room so really didn't appreciate the glass door to the bathroom! Nice bar/ bistro - dissapointed the main restaurant wasn't open - we were there in peak season too! more

Probaly best described as a 'boutique hotel'. Modern, fashionable, small rooms. The staff were brilliantly friendly. The bar was good and the meals served up were of good quality.
