We stayed at this motel for a night whilst in Taupo. The managers were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We made use of the laundry facilities which were new and clean. Patrick and Heather who run the lodge are so friendly, we felt right at home. The Silver Fern Lodge was the best place we stayed on our trek through the North Island. Having stayed at the Silver Fern Lodge previously we thought it would be a great place for a group of friends on a budget travelling to Taupo for New Years Eve 06/07. The managers at Silver Fern Lodge changed in mid february so you will now be greeted and looked after by a different people. Silver Fern Lodge in Taupo is a new complex opened in 2004. It has 18 studio units sleeping 1-5 and 4 bunk rooms. Bedding is provided. There is an excellent fully equip. kitchen for self catering. wide screen tv room. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, quiet and good value at $85 pn for the two of us.
