I spent two nights at the New Excelsior and had an awful experience. The first night a group of people were drinking in the outdoor decked area and talking loudly until at least 3 a.m. I complained at reception only to be told they were sorry but they were not supposed to be there after midnight, but they obviously did not enforce this as the door to these area was open and there was no notice indicating no access after midnight. The following night was even worse, with a live band playing in the pub on the ground floor - which is part of the hostel. Same answer from reception, they were not supposed to be loud after midnight, so not impressed... won't recommend unless for young groups who don't mind not getting any sleep more
