Wandering around Dunedin we found the Fletcher Lodge and got down the narrow drive to find a what appeared to be a nice but not outstanding home … But once the front door opened to us, the charm, art and ambiance were outstanding. Ewa and Peter were extremely personable and even helped us refine some of our upcoming travel goals... more

We stayed in May and I don't understand why it has taken me so long to scribe my review. We visited Dunedin (and NZ) for the first time with friends who had a family attachment with Fletcher Lodge. Eva, the proprietor, was aware of the connection and made a point of showing us how the property had been lovingly updated.... more

We have just spent 2 nights at Fletcher Lodge and were amazed. Keith & Eva are wonderful hosts - everything was 5 star - rooms, breakfast service, location, local knowledge,- what more could you ask for? Another 2 nights and we would have been able to explore the hidden charms of this fine southern city and enjoyed even more wonderful hosting. more

A two night stay in February in an eccentric old house a short walk into the city (but a steep walk back); very clean and comfortable and with a welcoming host, Ewa, who was very knowledgeable about attractions on the Otago Peninsula. We went to see the Royal Albatrosses and the Yellow-eyed Penguins, both of which were brilliant. Good cooked... more

We stayed at Fletcher Lodge for 1 night in January. The place was absolutely fab. The house itself is so well decorated and the hostess was so friendly and helpful. Nothing was any bother. We had a wonderful stay here. more

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit! After traveling for 10 days staying in large hotels this was the most relaxing overnight we encountered. The owners were great; attentive and very professional. I would recommend this to anyone coming to Dunedin who would like to "slow things down" a bit. We had dinner at restaurant recommended by the owners and the... more

A five-star experience! We spent five nights here and we rate it is one of the top three B&B's we have stayed in during almost 40 years of travel all over the world. The house is lovingly restored. Our room matched any at the Peninsula chain of hotels! A great breakfast each day. Most of all, the hosts were incredibly... more

We stayed at Fletchers Lodge Dunedin after 2 and a half weeks touring NZ. In summary it was even better than we had hoped. Breakfast 5 star. Room (and we had the smallest of those available) 4.9 star (if I had gotten the biggest room this would have been 5 star as well :-) ). Atmosphere and Facilities 5 star.... more

The owners are a friendly yet modest couple - yet with not much to be modest about, having created a positive ‘oasis of comfort’ at Fletcher Lodge, with spacious and spotless amenities and a country house feel! In a peaceful location in Dunedin, their loving restoration of this unique property into a very comfortable 'luxury B&B' has been in keeping... more

Not worth the money. Unpleasant but not horrible experience. I visited with my mother toward the end of 3 weeks touring the South Island on our own. Fletcher Lodge was the only B&B style accommodation that disappointed us of the 8 we visited on this trip. I was very glad we stayed only 1 night instead of longer as I... more

Management response from

After running the Lodge for so many years it is hugely dissapointing to receive such a negative review. Clearly we did not meet this guests expectations and our only way to put this right is to offer the guests a free nights accomodation next ime the're in New Zealand. It is only fair however to query some of the comments...
