We have enjoyed staying at Law Courts Hotel on a couple of occasions whilst visiting Dunedin. Place is "average" in all respects BUT price is reasonable, and hotel is VERY WELL located for easy walking distances around Dunedin central city. Friendly and helpful staff with bar and restaurant facility included.

My wife and I arrived in Dunedin at midday by rail with two very big heavy suitcases, we were flying out at 8.30 pm that evening. We approached Law Courts Hotel reception and asked if we could leave our suitcases with them until pickup at 7pm and offered to pay for this service. The friendly receptionist was extremely heplful and... More

We arrived in Dunedin without pre-booking accommodation to find that everything was booked out..even the backpackers, due to NZ v England cricket test. Last chance was the Law Courts where I used to have the odd drink when being a Detective down there. They had just had a cancellation immediately prior to my phone call. We stayed in a double... Used to stay here a lot in my younger days, back then the restaurant was a Cobb and Co and you always had to book in advance for a table. The hotel has heaps of character and although it has dated a little, i found my room very tidy and warm, the bed was comfortable, i had a good nights... More

We didn't book ahead and tried at least six other hotels before we found vacancy here. $99 seems cheap compared to the prices they're charging every where else. They offer free parking and Internet which was a first for us in New Zealand. The room (311) was clean but the bed a little small and crooked so my husband and... More

I love old pubs like this. If you're after the latest beds, double glazing, spacious bathrooms, massive TVs, etc then this place ain't for you. But having said all that, it does have what you need. A clean room, comfortable bed, an ensuite bathroom, great views (from my room anyway), friendly staff and a restaurant and bar downstairs. Free parking... More

After a long drive in need of a stop over we stopped at THE LAW COURTS unaware that if you are staying here you need an internal room so that you don't suffer from the noise.. We were on the 3rd floor all night the pedestrian crossing beeped ,cars roared past and people seem to shout in the streets. We... More
