My wife and I stayed at the Kingsgate hotel for 5 nights in August 2006 for our ski trip. The staff were polite and friendly. Our room were quite large and had a late 80s - early 90s look to it but was comfortable and had more than enough room for two people. The queen bed was reasonably comfortable and... more

On arrival we were shocked at how tired our hotel room looked. There had been a large hole punched in the bathroom door which had been poorly filled. Paintwork was chipped , dirty grout around tiles in the bathroom, dated soft furnishings etc . We accept that we had paid a low rate for the room - NZD$120 - but... more

The staff are great and very friendly in person, which was the highlight of the entire stay. I felt misled by booking staff in the fact they told us the hotel was a five minute walk from town, which it very clearly isn't. The rooms are disgustingly out-dated and the whole thing feels dirty. The heater didn't work properly and... more

Stayed here for 3 nights from 25 December 2006. Clean through out, friendly reception staff, well placed being just 10 minutes walk from town, plenty of car parking. Good views over the lake.Hotel is in need of a freshen up and a lick of paint. It is on the main road so can be a little noisy. A good average... more

This hotel has now dropped 'Terraces' from it's title. It is about a 10 minute walk from the town and a bit longer back as we had to stop to admire the views(it's up a steep hill!) It is 10 minutes from the airport but get the shuttle($13 for two) as the taxi has a hefty pickup surcharge($26 for two).... more

We loved the view from our room and we voted this the best Kingsgate hotel in NZ in light of this aspect. We liked the way the car park(though diabolical to drive out of) was so accessible. The best thing about the hotel was that the staff were so friendly and helpful (Jennifer had great advice for things to do)&... more

We booked a lake view room but were upgraded on arrival to a two-bedroom apartment on the top floor with lake views. This meant that we got excellent value for money, but wanted to warn other travellers that the hotel rooms are very old . The bathroom in ours looked like it hadn't been modernised since the 1970s, and whilst... more

We had an excellent room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The staff at the reception were most helpful in many ways, particularly regarding booking trips, etc. It would be quite a walk into town from the hotel, but if you have a car it is easy. The hotel has a fairly large underground car park which is free.Overall good value and great views of... more

Everything about this place is awesome. The atmosphere is very welcoming, staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and spacious, very clean and what a view!!! Our rooms were even on the same floor. The food was wonderful and service above average. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly. more

We stayed there in May 2004. Out of three Hotels I have stayed at in Queenstown this would easily be the best. Great view of the Lake from the balcony of our room which was well appointed and comfortable. Possibly the best meals I have eaten and I have had quite a few Hotel meals over the years. Staff very... more
