Had to upgrade after seening room which was booked through Whotif but then got an old room with stained carpet and damaged light switches etc., Would not stay there again unless VERY budget conscience. Good location and bus service available. Needs a good clean and revamp. more

I have rated this hotel above average, not so much because of price but overall experience. I obtained a last minute deal and was very happy here. I had a deluxe room on the 7th floor and found it very quiet, the lake view was a bonus. The linen was new and modern, the bathroom with bath was spotless. The... more

We stayed here for 3 nights in early April and this rated as one of the best value for money hotels in our month-long tour around New Zealand. Having been recommended this by Tourist Advice in Queenstown ( having made the mistake of booking into the Lakeview Holiday Park) this was very pleasant by comparison. Reception were very helpful and... more

I'm a frequent Rydges customer and when I learned of the "Lake" title in this Queenstown location I was quick to book a lake-view queen room. First, this hotel is at the edge of uncomfortably far from the hotel village - probably fine in the summer but in autumn it is a chilly walk and certainly not one you'd do... more

Its hard to relate our experience to some of the reviews i have just read however i notice that TripAdvisor is quoting an average price of $104 - this is almost motel rates for this part of the world. We booked through wotif.com & obviously got superior rooms - the ones that have wireless internett - we only paid $150... more

Like others, the reviews had worried us - so much so that we contacted the tour group in advance. We had a very pleasant experience here - our room overlooked the lake, and opened onto a wide stone deck. The room was spotlessly clean and very spacious, with all the expected amenities. Unfortunately a very large (60+)Australian tour group was... more

I stayed here for a weekend with my daughter as a birthday treat for her and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is close to the shops along a pleasant lakeside walk but is also on a bus route if you feel you can't make the distance.. We had a lakeview room (which was great as Lake Wakatipu is beautiful) with... more

The location was good and the hotel definitely looked beautiful, was a pleasant trip upon arrival from long drive. I honestly have no complaints about the room, it was just right and nice for my husband and myself. The view was just great and it was the highlight of our stay. more

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour group. Room was spacious and clean with a patio doors to a communal deck overlooking the lake. Buffet breakfast was more than adequate, catering to Western and Eastern diets. Five minutes walk along the lakeside took you to the town centre where there are many bars and restaurants. Certainly... more

We stayed at Rydges for a Romantic weekend away. We were disgusted! We even went as far as writing a letter to the manager, only to get some sloppy reply of 'we have taken your considerations on board and trust you will stay at Rydges again' AS IF! Our room was very dated and the bathroom was yellowing it was... more
