My husband and I stayed at the Matterhorn Chalet (Rigi room) for 3 nights over New Year. This guest house was by far the best we stayed in during our 3 week trip round the South Island. Yes, it was a little out of town and up a steep hill but we had a hire car so it didn't bother us and we got a taxi home at night which wasn't expensive.... more
