We've stayed in a number of other peppers hotels both in NZ and Aus and were really looking forward to our stay (expecting the usual peppers quality, luxury and service) but were hugely disappointed. We booked a 2 night stay in a hotel room and were very tempted to pack up our bags and leave after the first night... 1.... more

I’m amazed this hotel can state they are a “luxury” hotel because our experience was anything but! I was very upset because I’ve stayed in Super 8 and Travelodge motels that were of higher quality in accommodations and helpful staff…literally. I do not think I’ve stayed anywhere with such poor customer service, small rooms, and lack of pride in cleanliness.... more

We stayed in December for a 3 night booking which we extended to 4. Initially we got a top floor 2 bedroom suite (fabulous view but small lounge area) accessed by a steep staircase. After a quick trip to reception for a chat with the very helpful and very funny Kerry we were given a key to another room to... more

Just returned from a two night stay at the Peppers Beacon Queenstown, which was booked by our travel agent here in the States. Let me first say the location of the hotel is good, with a view of the Lake and within easy walking distance to the main areas of Queenstown. However, the positive aspects stop there. How this hotel... more

We stayed at Peppers Beacon for one night in March 2008. We very disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is advertised as being a 5 star hotel, but it is 4 stars at best. The rooms do not have very good sound proofing. You can hear everything next door or outside your door, including the lift buzzing and opening and... more

Like some of you we travel a lot, and of course we stay in Hotels/Motels just like you. And like you we all have our own opinions. This is review is strictly based on what our visit was like on the day. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment (616) with a courtyard view. The day was warm and the... more

On the website the hotel looks great, but I have to echo some of the previous comments about this hotel - for us the principle problem was the sound-proofing. There doesn't seem to be any. We could hear every, and I mean, every, cough, snore and laugh in the next door room. Unfortunately it was a 2-room apartment and they... more

Lovely setting but not what I would call a hotel - and certainly not a luxury hotel. Rooms have limited views, noisy airconditioning units outside (from the appartments not even from your own room), no restaurant, bar or lounge, breakfast room dark and dingy (no windows and no customers), spa - one hot tub which you have to get special... more

We stayed at Peppers Beacon for 4 nights in early January, in a hotel room on the 8th floor. The view was a partial one of the lake looking between two other hotel rooms, but as the window was quite small and set back from the other rooms, our room was very dark. There was no sofa in the living... more

We stayed here for two nights, but not consecutively.. Our first room was a standard lake view, it had a small porch with a nice view, a sitting room, and a comfortable bedroom. The location was ideal for walking into town, probably about 5 minutes to the heart of town, so you didn't feel like you were far from anything,... more
