The Te Anau Lodge is a lovely spot from which to base your stay in the southern part of the South Island, New Zealand. The hotel is well-situated close to to Lake Te Anau, from which you can easily get to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound. The hotel is very quiet with spacious grounds. It was originally a monastery built... More

It's been one of ther best B&B of our trip. Both George and Margaret are really noce and make your stay really easy and confortable. Really close to town centre, but at the same time really quite and full of peace. The best choice in Te Anau! More

I only stayed one night. Clean, charming accommodation. George was a very kind, friendly host with lots of helpful tips about touring Fiordland. You pretty much need a car to get to the lake/downtown. From what I saw of the other hotels in town, Te Anau Lodge is one of the best places to stay in the area. More

George will make you welcome here. The building is very well looked after. As this is more of a lodge then a B&B there are quite a few guests staying here. If you want to go to bed early it can be wuite noisy. More

I put a question mark in the title only because I haven't stayed in every bed and breakfast on Earth. But I think I am correct. George and Margaret are absolute gems - incredibly helpful and accommodating. We felt truly at home. Examples - We arrived by bus, and George offered repeatedly to let us borrow his car so we... I spent two marvelous nights at Te Anau lodge last month. John & Margaret did welcomed me as a friend in their convent. The hotel offer very confortables and uniques rooms ( furnishings also are original ). Lounge and dining room (with church windows) are decorated with woodwork, leather chair, and you really fell at home. The new owner has... More

This is a place with a difference. George (our co-host; Margaret was away on family business) proudly showed us his stately looking English car outside, next to the only parking meter in town! And we also inspected the relocated church at the end of the property. Other things are taking shape - this is going to be fantastic grounds for... More

The Lodge used to be an old convent and has lots of modern antiques. We stayed in the Cathedral room which had "wrap around" windows offering excellent views across the gardens to the lake and mountains. Our hosts George and Margaret Lamb were TERRIFIC - nothing was too much trouble for them. The lounge was very comfortable included use of... More

This was one of the most unforgettable parts of our trip to NZ, we were treated with great hospitality, the Lodge is impressive and the hosts - George and Margaret made us feel most welcome. Breakfast in the converted chapel, cooked to order by George, fantastic! Would we come back? Without a doubt! More

Te Anau Lodge has an excellent location. A wonderful wooden ex convent re-located to its present site. Our previous B&B's were more family homes and we enjoyed the personal family atmosphere, Te Anua Lodge is perhaps more of a small hotel than a B&B, thus loosing some of the cosy atmosphere. It is nice, but for us not inspiring. Breakfast... More
