returned to rough and tumble for christmas 2010, and it's better, if anything--weasel and justin welcomed us back like old friends, food (thank you andrew and laura and sam) of a high standard, a great walk up the mokihinui on christmas day, and pleasant and interesting other guests--the usual weather adding piquancy. we might end up being regulars!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed two nights at Rough and Tumble. The lodge itself is a beautiful log home with a lodge (rooms) off the back. The staff was so friendly and food was OUTSTANDING! There is so much to do outside. They provide bikes, kayaks, guided hikes, etc. all in the price of the stay. Highly recommend!
