As a novacastrian I've been here many times. The bar is great with craft beers on tap along with cheaper draughts, beautiful surroundings, a beer garden, TVs good staff etc, however recently in May I ate there as a part of a group. The food was very poor and very expensive sadly. I chose the Peri Peri chicken Pizza which... More

We stayed here for one night mid-week. The location is great and is close to Queens Wharfe and good restaurants. The room was very spacious, modern, quiet and spotless. Huge shower with great, fast hot water. Special shout-out to the staff at reception. So helpful and friendly. Will certainly stay here again if we return to Newcastle.

i often stay at the Clarendon Hotel when i am in Newcastle doing business for my wine brand LISA MCGUIGAN WINES. My last experience was the best trip to Newcastle i have had. The Hotel provides everything I need but in particular Darren on the Breakfast shift was always so happy that i want a bit of his positivity to... More

First time I've stayed in Newcastle and I have to say this hotel is an absolute gem. Very good value, very friendly staff in the bar and on the hotel reception and modern, clean bedrooms. We stayed in a 5 person bedroom, which wasn't massive, but certainly did the job. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a... More

I have stayed here on a number of occasions and always found it to be perfect for a night out in Newcastle. The rooms are immaculate, quiet and well appointed. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Perfect location to be able to walk to many venues along the foreshore. Had dinner at the restaurant with friends and it was... More

It is close to Civic station. As I first saw it the hotel looked like a typical Newcastle pub, and to some extent it was. It had a rowdy public bar , slot machines and an average restaurant. The room however was spacious and clean. Attention to detail wasn't too good. There was a blown globe by the bed and... More

When we were visiting Newcastle this is where we stayed. It was undergoing some construction when we went so it wasn't very pretty but I guess it'll be better now. Our hotel room was cheap and we had free wifi. It was a very nice clean room. O there was also air con' as well. However, the food was below... More

Hi Tara, Thanks for your review - we really do appreciate the feedback! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, although it is disappointing to hear that you did not have a great restaurant experience. The good news is that our new head chef started a couple of weeks ago and has designed a delicious brand... More

If having the live entertainment playing just outside your room at 11.30pm is not a problem for you, especially after having paid $175 for the room then this place could be good for you. Alas, it didn't work for us. This place is a pub, not a hotel. Clean enough but two bulbs gone in a room is not great... More

We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us, most of our guests and patrons love the soloists that we have play on a Friday and Saturday night, they usually begin at 8pm and run through until approximately 11.30pm, saying that we understand it may not be to everybody's taste and we do advertise this on our... Stayed here over Easter. Wasn't too sure what to expect since the reviews were so mixed and the price was so cheap. We were quite pleased. The location is right across from the train station and just up the road from Hunter Street and Darby Street. There were also cute little markets around the corner from the hotel. The room... More

I stayed here with my girlfriend over the Easter Break so the restaurant and bar were all closed, so i'm not sure if that would have made any difference to our stay but we loved the place!
