Given the higher than average room prices and their self rated four stars one might expect this to be one of the better places to stay in Mount Isa.
I stepped out onto a carpark littered with dead rats and cigarette butts; the room was shabby- the furniture threadbare and dirty; the advertised internet connection was a wirelss network that didnt work in my room; the gym is in another place; the towel rail fell off if you touched it; the airconditioner stopped working; the taps didnt work properly; the toilet flush got stuck on; the room service food was apalling . If you dont like lifts or are a bit claustrophobic beware since there are no internal stairs - only an small lift.
The staff are friendly and helpful but they can't do much with a hotel that is way past its prime, although the food has to be blamed on the chef. more
