We ended up in Toowoomba after sightseeing around the area. We were looking for good value, clean accommodaton. The Shamrock Hotel/Motel unfortunately did not come up to standard and we will now ask to see any room before we check in. We paid for a deluxe room that apparently was bigger than the standard room with a spa as well (however due to water restrictions the spas were not working and we did not get a reduction in the room rate!) We were given the key and directions to the room, the door to the room along with several other rooms was wide open. Leaves and other debris had blown into the room. The TV remote did not work and neither did the aircon. The sheets were clean on the bed and the bathroom was ok but overall the room was rather grubby and did not smell very pleasant. There was a note in the room saying that due to the wet weather crickets were getting under the doors of the rooms and they had supplied a rolled up towel to put along the bottom of the door.
