The Burke & Wills is a very long way from a 4 Star establishment. We have stayed at the Mercure in Toowoomba a few times over th last 6 years. For price and location, I think its great. I do agree with previous review, that staff in resturant could be more foused and food prompt...however still exceptable!!. We were advised by a local that this was the best hotel in town. I'd really hate to see the worst. Upon arrival, we were advised that the smoking room booked was not possible as the property was now fully non-smoking. (no mention on their website!) We were therefore forced to leave the building to smoke outside and Toowomba is... more

We have not had smoking rooms available since july 2004, much to the majority of our guests delight. I realise its sometimes cold outside in Toowommba but not in February as you claim it was. We will always champion our guests right to sleep without the annoyance of another guests unsociable habits.
