This motel is very convenient, just off the main highway, and 10 mins walk downtown. Accommodation is rather basic, clean but tired looking, good sized room, but rather small bathroom with shower only. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with local info. The swimming pool has solar heating, so the water is only warm when the sun shines, and it rained whilst I was there! Basically, OK and good value for money.
plenty of eating places on the highway or walk downtown.
10 mins drive to the volcanic lakes, which are a must - and walk around weather permitting. You don't see much if you drive! Plenty of wildlife at the green lake. The Umpherston Sinkhole has a very pretty garden and is about 5 mins along the highway, and you must return at dusk and when the possums come out to play. They are cute and like grapes and oranges.

We stayed in a deluxe room for 1 night. The room was large, clean and comfortable, with both a queen and a single bed, ample desk space, tv, cupboard and a small dining table with chairs.

The "kitchenette" facilities included a microwave, toaster, kettle, bar fridge, cutlery and crockery. There was no sink or cooktop.

The decor was quite tired - mostly looking like it dated from the 80s.

The bathroom decor (shower only, no bath) was very tired but everything was fine and in working order. The fluffy towels were a nice touch.

Our night there was very quiet.

The hotel wasn't far (2 minute drive) from Commercial st, where the majority of Mt Gambier cafes, restaurants and pubs are located.
