My family and I visited and stayed at the Grand Chancellor as other family had selected the hotel. Whilst the service was friendly and reasonably efficient and the foyer impressive our room was extremely poor. It was small and poorly lit at night. The beds, of which there were two were small doubles and sagged - they obviously had not... more

We value constructive feedback and personal views, as this enables us to focus on enhancing the overall experience at Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston. We were delighted that the service, location and cleanliness was rated as ‘well-above’ average and that our service was found to be friendly and efficient. We also appreciate the comments regarding our impressive foyer. We were sorry...

I paid $145 for a room, and had to pay an extra $6 for overnight parking. Didn't bother with the $26 breakfast (neither did many other guests by the look of it. Very outdated, in need on a refurb, horrid old bedspreads and pilled blankets, dark colonial feel. Lots of corridor noise. OK for one night when business travelling, but... more

I stayed at the Grand Chancellor three years ago. I returned in March this year and have to say that the hotel has improved immensly compared to my previous visit. Check-in was seamless, the staff were exceptional and management was noticeably present and ensuring that things were running smoothly. The hotel now features a few new shops which adds to... more

Stayed at Grand Chancellor Launceston for 2 nights over NYE 08/09. Hotel staff were courteous if not overly friendly but service was always very prompt. Rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. We only had breakfast one morning but it was a good buffet selection in the main restaurant. The atrium over the restaurant adds to the morning atmosphere which we... more

This hotel was fine but nothing to rave about. The exterior and lobby were far more impressive than the rooms. We stayed on the second floor. The fridge was extremely noisy at night and I could hear the tv at 2am next door. Rooms very close together! Also, the TV was too low when you were watching from bed. Location... more

I stayed here in October 2008 whilst attending a Golden Chain conference. As a motellier, I am very fussy and overly pedantic. I could not fault the Grand Chancellor even though I was discretely looking for faults. The reception staff were well presented and pleasant, check-in was seamless, our room exceeded our expectations and the cleaning attendants did a very... more

The hotel is completely outdated. Can you believe that you actually get a physical KEY to your room? No swipe card, but an actual key! That sorta sets the tone for the hotel. It's comfortable and clean, but definitely outdated. Still has the old bed covers that have long since been replaced by white duvets in other 4 star hotels... more

I was disappointed in this hotel, very grand from the outside but dusty curtains with cobwebs hanging from them are not what I would expect in a Hotel of this standard. I also found the room noisy, the first floor rooms are cheaper than others possibly for this reason, but I don,t really want to get the sound effects from... more

booked via the phone, and got a much more expensive deal than originally quoted. We got a "king deluxe" room. It smelt of smoke, the bathroom was grubby. The airvents in the room were really noisy, the fridge was very noisy. The bed was HARD, the pillows wafer thin. We were having a bottle of wine and some cheese in... more

Thank you for your comments. It alarms me to hear that we fell short of your expectations as we often receive exceptional feedback regarding our rooms and pleasant customer service. Our breakfast guest survey indicates that 97% of our guests believe that our breakfast is above average to exceptional and I apologise that we did not meet your expectation on...

We stayed for just one night at the Grand Chancellor and I wish it was longer. We had booked in advance a top floor renovated superior room and it was definitely worth it. The check in staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our corner room was very spacious with windows on 2 sides, a complimentary platter of chocolates and bathrobes... more
