Unfortunately for the night I was wanting it my usual #1 choice in St Kilda (The Cosmopolitan) was booked out and this was the only one available. Big mistake. Although the female staff member who served me was extremely polite and helpful, she was unfortunately the standout aspect of the stay. Along with previous reviewers, I found the noise levels... more

Stayed in a twin room for one night. Room was a bit dingy, with a single bed and a (rather ricketty) bunk bed. Bathroom was also a bit grotty, but functional. Location is a mixed bag. On the positive side, it's right on Fitzroy Street, bang in the centre of St. Kilda, which makes it incredibly convenient for the bars,... more

Where to start? Stayed here in March 2008 - because we were there for the F1 Grand Prix. We stayed 5 nights and the morning after the first night we found mouse droppings in one of the saucers by the kettle. We then noticed that the biscuit packet we had bought from the 7-11 had been gnawed through. Suffice to... more

Booked this place without consulting Tripadvisor - Big Mistake! We are are a family of four, with one of us still in a pram, so it was a bit of a shock to find the motel above a shopping strip with no elevator. It was nice to see an historical 1950's motel still in use, but the twin room (a... more

Has to be the worst 3 days of my life. I have stayed at hotels around the world and this bad. I would have rather slept in a car on the side of the street than stay in this hotel. The room was dirty and smelled. Walls are paper thin and I could hear people use the bathroom(#1 and #2)... more

We booked a cheap family room for one night -thanks God it was only ONE night ! After we climbed to the 2nd floor with our luggage (no lifts) and tried to put the children in bed, the noise on the street continued to up to 4 AM and the trams started clanking and ringing their bells at about 6... more

This is a hotel of 2 halves! The first night we got a street side room, and got about 5 minutes sleep, what with trams, drunks and screaming women. We asked reception to change to a room on the back, and they were very helpful and moved us immediately, so the second night we had no problems sleeping. The rooms... more

We stayed in a twin share room on Friday & Saturday night and we had a room on the Fitzroy street side. Which provides a bit of street noise - people, traffic & trams, The room was neat (could have been cleaned better) & pretty much what you would expect from a 2-3 star motel (2 star hotel). If you... more

This hotel was basic and cheap, these were the reasons we chose it. However if you intend to sleep on a friday or saturday night this is not the place for you. The nearby clubs seemed to kick out at about 5.30 just in time for the trams to start up along Fitzroy street right outside. I can usually sleep... more

Stayed for a week in August (so Australia's Winter). Location is good, right in centre of lively St. Kilda, a contemporary resort which is a mixture of classy bars and clubs with run down holes. Street outside littered with tramps and ladies of the night (or day as it was) but I'd say area is pretty harmless if you stay... more
