Te Mata Lodge is a very clean, comfortable, quiet and well situated accommodation. Very friendly and helpful owners who will tailor your stay for your interests and length of stay. Plenty to do - bushwalking, gemstone gathering, visits to other Coromandel Pen. towns, BBQs, swimming, kayaking, wine/food/art trails. We stumbled upon this place along the stunning west coromandel coast on a week-long trip from Oz. It is hidden away at the back of the tiny town of Thames..blink and you will miss the turnoff. We were desperate to find somewhere to book in (several months in advance) for New Year's Eve, found everywhere was full on the Coromandel, and eventually booked at Te Mata Lodge. JJ and his partner stayed in a cabin (not chalet) which was our last accommodation option available for New Years. For $30/night/adult it was a bargain for the private cabin with polished wood floors, art work on the walls, table and chairs, double bed made up with quality linen, towels provided, plus bunks.. We knew it wasn't what he was...
