Wonderful self sufficient little lodge up the Wanganui River! Peaceful little place with lots to see, and a great break from the canoe! A wonderful family business, where the staff are more then willing to go out of the way to make sure your stay is comfortable! Better then expected! Thanks Tanya

Stayed here overnight as part of a 3 day MTB trip that they run that included Jet boats, shuttles and camp-sites. A brilliant way to explore wild NZ. That are marvellous at arranging all sorts of trips ( I want to go back and do some canoeing down the Whanganui river). Very accommodating family run business that do their best to... More

If you marvelled at Lord of the Rings scenery, this is the place to breath it in! Amazing, unspoiled beauty, tranquility and serenity, where no road can take you, except for the river. The jet boat ride from Pipiriki takes you to the lodge in 20 minutes. Another 15 minutes of the boat ride and 40 minutes walk in the... More

Have been wanting to visit this area for years as our Uncle Charlie Halliwell was one of the early settlers up the River. My father had visited him during those years and often told us of the hardship they experienced. Our fabulous host Joe and his son met us at Pipariki and gave a tour of the river on our... More

There's plenty of hearty home-cooked food at the family-run lodge after the exhilarating jet boat ride up the Whanganui River. While this is not a trip for the unfit or fainthearted, you shouldn't miss it if you want to meet salt of the earth New Zealanders; take a walk through beautiful bush alongside streams; hear about the hardships; see the... This is an amazing experience - a lodge miles from anywhere along the Whangari river. The jet boat experience is fantastic and the walk to the Bridge to Nowhere is very interesting and you learn about the settlers who found it all too much. It does get cold on the river so take lots of layers.
